Acerca de esta escucha

Join scholar and spell-caster Everson Croft in this five-book urban fantasy set, from the discovery of his magic in the prequel novella, Book of Souls, to his battle against a mind-warping evil in the shocking finale, Death Mage.

Who is Professor Croft?

If he sat beside you on the subway, you might notice his disheveled coat and burnt satchel, but you’d have no idea he was New York’s hardest-working mage (or that his cat talked). Never properly trained, he's been learning on the job. Outwitting vampires, wrestling werewolves, banishing powerful demons - all while holding down a teaching gig. But wizarding is in his blood, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his dysfunctional city, even if he mashes a few toes along the way. Watch your feet.

This value set features the first four novels and the prequel novella in the spell-crackling Prof Croft series: Book of Souls, Demon Moon, Blood Deal, Purge City, and Death Mage. Your ticket to magic and mayhem awaits!

This was a good series. Interesting characters and story. Had some slow parts but that happens in all stories. the narrator did a good job and was consistent with the voices.

Good listen

Main character is beautifully flawed and yet strong enough to hold the world together with his mind, ethics and magic.

wonderfully engaging combination of world building and characters

I am enjoying the fact that the author chose to develop story with character development. Both grow with each passing chapter.

Great story

This series was a decent read (listen). I've read many reviews comparing it to The Dresden Files. I've read/listened to the entire Dresden series (Author: Jim Butcher) as well as the entire Alastair Stone Chronicles (Author: R.L. King). If the Prof Croft series is to be compared to anything The Alastair Stone Chronicles would be far more accurate of a comparison. Neither is on the scale of Dresden, agreed. Nonetheless the Prof Croft series is entertaining in its own right. It is not a dark and gritty as Dresden. I think Croft is more of a YA seres. I had far more of an issue with the narrator than with the story line or character development. I did get somewhat used to James Patrick Cronin after a while but it continued to seem as though he was reading not actually being the characters, if that makes sense. For example wHen the scene would say "I yelledI [ sub latin magic word of choice]..." Mr. Cronin literally just spoke the word when he should have at least raised his voice. I do have have to say, few narrators can even approach James Marsters, narrator of the Harry Dresden series. WIll M Watt , narrator of the the Alastair Stone Chronicles, is only pretty good. If I was forced to rank the various mage series I' say 1. Dresden, 2. Alastair Stone and 3. Prof Croft. Will I purchase and listen to more of the Prof Croft series. Probably not. I will, however, read them.

Decent and not truly a knock off of Dresden.

I, personally loved this book.
Because I bought it in packets is the only reason I am now commenting.
Intriguing and heart wrenching.
All in all it's just an amazing series.

Yep. Keep going.

but when they say in the book that someone said something with a boom...I want the voice actor to at least exclame that's supposed to be booming... but the voice actor just says it like anything else... it really takes me out of it.

maybe I'm just spoiled(probably am)

I almost did not listen to this series but, come on, four books for 1 credit...that is a steal! However, this series holds its own. It has its own world of wizarding excitement like Dresden and is just as rivet but give it a chance. I am hooked after the first 4 books!

Okay, this is NOT like Dresden Files!!

I enjoyed this book very much yes it does have some similarities to the Dresden files but it stands on its own very well I started with the first book and couldn’t stop until I was through with all three

Wonderful
