Publisher's summary

The Clone Wars have exploded across the galaxy as Republic forces and Separatists struggle to gain the upper hand. But while the Jedi generals work tirelessly to defeat Count Dooku and his rebels, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is hatching his own dark plans.

The Separatists have launched a sneak attack on Coruscant. Obi-Wan Kenobi, wounded in battle, insists that Anakin Skywalker and his rookie Padawan, Ahsoka, leave on a risky mission against General Grievous. But when Senator Bail Organa reveals explosive intelligence that could turn the tide of war in the Republic's favor, the Jedi Master agrees to accompany him to an obscure planet on the Outer Rim to verify the facts.

What Obi-Wan and Bail don't realize is that they're walking into a deadly trap concocted by Palpatine...and that excape may not be an option.

Inspired by the full-length animated feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the brand-new TV series, this thrilling adventure is filled with provocative, never-before-revealed insights into the characters of Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme, Yoda, Count Dooku, and many other Star Wars favorites.

Might not be what you expect but still a good book

Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars to be better than the print version?

I never read the print version but listening to audiobooks let me get through more titles than reading the print editions because I can listen while doing other things like driving, working, etc.

What other book might you compare Star Wars to and why?

Star Wars The Clone Wars because it is the next book in the series, at least I believe it is.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes the narration was pretty good, not the best I've heard but not the worst either. Some of the characters sounded close to their counterparts on the animated series.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Cloud of the Sith

Any additional comments?

I read a lot of comments about this book saying it was dull and it talked too much about feelings and I think the reason a lot of people say this is they might have expected this book to be about Anakin and Snips. It is not, they make cameo appearances (and if you watch the TV series there is something that Anakin and Snips are off doing that was an episode while the main story is going on) but the story is mainly about Obi Wan.

The pacing is a bit off as it is a bit slow to start, an abridged version of this book might be better for some people, but I loved listening to the backstory and character developments. We learn how a lot of these characters end up personality wise, it's interesting to see how they get there.

There is a lot about feelings in this book and it is interesting to see how the Jedi struggle with attachment and how the teachings of the Jedi to not keep attachments IMO is not right (while at the same time not being completely wrong if that makes any sense).

If you liked The Clone Wars I believe you will like this one. There may not be as much action but as far as I'm concerned definitely not boring, I breezed through this book rather quickly!

a good star wars story

it's rather refreshing to hear a story about the aftermath of the episode 2. I thought it was well written and just as well narrated. it was a good clone wars novel.

As good as can be executed.

it's the first star wars audiobook I've completed start to finish in less than a week. very good voices (except any female voices) but you can't always have perfection especially on that note.
But nonetheless I loved listening to the story. the only reason I left one star blank(probably just on my side but worth mentioning) the audio in just a few spots throughout the narrative would loop back into the same lines he had read moments before. I can remember maybe 2-3 times that this happened. although I'm 90% sure it's just on my side. otherwise great performance and execution thank you.

A very fun story

I have always enjoyed taking a look at pre-Disney prequel materials. this title does not disappoint, however the buddy-cop plot line between Bail and Kenobi did eventually grow tiresome.

Better Late Than Never...

I'm a few years too late in reading this, but I must say whole heartedly, this is one of The BEST Star Wars Books made.

Great Story. Great Production. Great Narrator.

Perhaps it's just me, but this is a GREAT audio book.

ignore the other reviews....

I love this book, I explores a little bit of the sith stuff and give a little insight into what happened immediately after episode 2. and it give great insight to what the characters are thinking. It's not a fast pace book but was still very gripping

Nice start to clone wars novels.

This is a great way to start the clone wars series. Do not take into consideration the clone wars novel based on the animated film. The only thing this recording is lacking is more ambient sound.

Favorite Clone Wars Novel

I find myself coming back to this book time and time again. Not only is the storytelling amazing with exploring the dynamics of Organa and Obi-Wan, the narrator does such a good job reading it. You feel submerged into the story and don’t want to put it down.
