Confession: I'm an Honorverse fan. If you'r reading this, chances are you are too. This is not the first book I would recommend to someone I'm trying to introduce to the Honorverse. It is however a GREAT companion to the first several Honor books. We hear the back story to Honor's distant relative who settled on Sphinx. We also get a primer on the physics and math behind the methods of travel used in the books. In short, if you're already a fan of Honorverse books - this is a great book that will fill in many of the holes in the back story. The performance, is as good as the writing, but in spots can drag.

Last of the three books was the best story, going into the development of FTL travel. I do wish the author had continued with the first book.

The lead novella, the first tree cat bonding, was outstanding. The short story of DeQueen's saving of Haven from the Leveller's uprising filled in that gap. The final story was very informative. The David Drake short story was very Daniel Leary in style and narration.

Over all the book had its ups, and its downs. So, three stars.

Not new stories! Literally copied from othe honorverse books. I feel very cheated! I may never buy honor again. Mad!

While some of the stories or info presented here is new, much of it comes from other sources as well. Having said that it is a nice anthology and is read well.

A nice compilations of Honorverse stuff

This is a good book for anyone who plans to write within the Honorverse theme. It's not so great as a relaxing sci-fi read.

Reminds me of history class

If you’re going to read as an audiobook narrator, especially military and/or sci-if, you need to know how to pronounce words like Terran and cadre.

Opening story and third story were quite good. Second story was as boring as they come and added nothing to the universe at all. The last one is a technical manual combined with history of the universe.

If you are reading this, then you are completely hooked on Honor Harrington Universe.

This book is a first collection of short stories and should be listened after "In Enemy Hands".

This is a story of the first treecat adoption.
Do you remember Honor's story about "missing celery"?
Later this short story was turned into spin off series for teenage readers: Star Kingdom series
It was very interesting.

This is completely of the board short story involving some naval action some interesting native artefacts, left by prehuman spacefareres.
It was written by David Drake, so it has the same feeling as RCN Book Series about
Daniel Leary the lieutenant in the Republic of Cinnabar Navy
( actually it's pretty interesting series too, if you like this short story you should check the series, but keep in mind that I rated this short short story only 3* but the series has solid 4*)

A Story by S.M.Stirling. The events take place during one of the coup d'etat attempts.
in my opinion this story is a waste of your time.

I must admit I am hooked on the Honor Harrington series. The Honor-universe series gives us more insight into the times and history than could be provided in the original series. This book is a collection of three short stories. The first is about young Stephanie Harrington and the first encounter with the tree cats. This is also covered in the youth series about Stephanie, which adults will also enjoy. The second covers archeology about early space travel to Manticore. The third book covers the history of the engineering developments of space travel and the discoveries that allow for hyperspace travel. You really must enjoy science and technical information for this story. It also covers the Winton family and it's rise to power of the Manticore system. The three narrators, Victor Bevine, L. J. Ganser and Khristine Hvam did a good job reading the stories. Looking forward to more in this series.
