Are you an amateur athlete considering partnering with a brand to sponsor your athletic pursuits? #Sponsored looks to explain the exciting and highly competitive world of sports sponsorships, including the sponsor-sponsee relationship.

Through stories of other athletes and brand liaisons as well as her own journey as an amateur athlete, author Jasmine Chou discusses the sport sponsorship world from the athlete’s standpoint as well as the brand’s perspective. These stories show how beneficial a partnership can be for all parties, while giving some general tips on how to go about pursuing your own sponsorship goals.

In this book, you’ll find out:

  • How Heather Fell transitioned between three different sponsorship relationships
  • How Lululemon utilized brand ambassadors to expand their business and build successful relationships
  • How brands like Red Bull have conquered the world of digital content and what it has done for them
  • And much more!

Sponsorship is not about getting something for free. Sponsorship relationships should be developed, negotiated, and strategic so that both parties receive maximum gain. If you are an amateur athlete considering sponsorship, represent a business interested in a more personalized connection with sports, or simply love stories of sports and business, #Sponsored is a must-have addition to your audio library.

Engaging Guide For Athletes Exploring Sponsorships

Chou tells a compelling story of her path to becoming a sponsored kona ironman triathlete and outlines clear steps any amateur athlete can take to become sponsored themselves.

A good portion of the book is dedicated to exploring of the value proposition of sponsorship from both the brand and athlete perspectives. One aspect of this that she emphasizes is the value of building and curating an audience as an athlete when courting brands.

I also really enjoyed her team-oriented approach to achieving her goal. By building a team of family members, coaches, training partners, and sponsors that believed in her she created a support network that helped drive her forward. It's probably worth applying this approach to any goal one is trying to achieve.

Interesting intro to sponsorship for athletes

Interesting guide for amateur athletes and aspiring pro athletes looking for ways to fund their pursuits. I appreciated hearing the stories of athletes from multiple sports, all of whom made sponsorship work in ways that were authentic both to them and the brand. It helped that the author is a sponsored athlete herself and could draw from her experience seeking partnerships. The narration was a bit fast for me, so I listened on .9x speed
