About this listen

Like a songbird in a cage, Anya has spent her entire life as the General's perfect daughter.

He snaps his fingers; she jumps. He tells her to smile; she beams like she is made of the sun itself. But underneath all those games and glitter, she's working to destroy her father and save the city she loves.

When an undine sneaks his way into her city, intent on kidnapping her, she lets him take her.

Daios is plagued by the decisions of his past. Souls haunt him, memories follow his every move, and all he knows is that perhaps stealing this woman will absolve him of his sins. If he can bring her back to his people, then they can destroy the city where his hatred was born. He's certain this will be easy. But then he sees the General's daughter, and he knows nothing will ever be the same again.

Broken and damaged, he's certain no woman will ever love him. He shouldn't even try to encourage the mating instincts that ride him hard the moment he sees her.

But when he realizes that she's the same as him, different from her people and on the outskirts of what others deem normal, he knows he's a goner. Even if it means he has to risk everything to keep her.

The feels!

I have never been so glad to not hate a character anymore in my life. I really loved everything about this and think it might have been better than the first book. The “vocal performances” were just as awesome as last time sucking you in as they tell the story, both have lovely voices. I can’t wait for the third to come out!!!!

Emma Hamm delivers again

Wow, Ms Hamm has given us another fantastic tale, with a completely reproach- less FMC. I love her female characters..... if only for the fact that they are not cry babies. And although I also love her male characters, this is the first paranormal/fantasy/sci Fi romance novel I have listened to/read, whereby the MMC scares the bejeesus out of me. He is really intimidating, his size, his voice, his character, his countenance, his possibly sized weiner😉? his future behaviors....... he scares me. He sounds like an actual monster. I don't dislike him, but I found him terrifying. I loved Arges and look forward to marketes's story. But is this book worth a read or a listen..... ABSO-FORKING-LUTELY. !!!!! Loved it Emma Hamm, you are one heaven of a writer.!!!.

Loved it ❤️

I’m really enjoying this series. I think this also did a good job of depicting characters who deal with trauma and disability in a fantasy setting. The narration is still top tier here. So excited for the next book!

same as the first book. The storyline was sublime, and I loved every aspect of it. The voice acting was outstanding; Carmen and Will are my favorites. So many good books suffer from poor voice acting, but these two truly elevated the experience. I can’t get enough! i need the 3rd book

Fantastic narration

I already loved this book after reading it, but it has such more depth of emotion in listening to it. You can feel so much of the anguish and longing of Daios through Will's narration, and the determination and strength of Anya through Carmen's voice. Such a beautiful story of Anya and Daios finding where they belong in each other.
