About this listen

All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.

Christine Derrick is intrigued by the handsome duke...all the more so when he invites her to become his mistress. What red-blooded woman wouldn't enjoy a tumble in the bedsheets with a consummate lover - with no strings and no questions asked. An infuriating lady with very definite views on men, morals, and marriage, Christine confounds Wulfric at every turn. Yet even as the lone wolf of the Bedwyn clan vows to seduce her any way he can, something strange and wonderful is happening. Now for a man who thought he'd never lose his heart, nothing less than love will do.

Contains mature themes.

Critic reviews

"With this series, Balogh has created a wonderfully romantic world of Regency culture and society. Readers will miss the honorable Bedwyns and their mates; ending the series with Wulfric's story is icing on the cake. Highly recommended." ( Library Journal)

Adding to my list of FAVORITE books!

I think I'm in love with the Duke of Bewcastle. What a great book. I laughed, I cried, I sighed! I'll be listening to this book again and again. Listen to the whole series though. You can't miss the other Bedwyn's!

The best for last.

W ufric's story is well-done. I would have been so disappointed if the object of his affections would have been a prim and boring miss. Luckily the lovers are matched well. A fitting wrap up to this Slightly series. And Ms Landor's narration is superb as usual!

Culmination of a great series

This will be like saying goodbye to a good friend. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the Bedwin’s stories and finally Wulfric. Mary Balogh writes a great tale filled with so many emotions and Rosalyn Landor brings them to life with her excellent narrating skills.

Fabulous and believable book.

This is one of Ms. Balogh's best. Almost on par with the Survivors Club. The characters are complicated, strong and somewhat flawed. Which makes their stories more riveting.

Mary Balogh does not fail to disappoint

I have this book in paperback but wanted to listen to it narrated especially when I saw that it was to be read by Rosalyn Landor.
Excellent conclusion to the Bedwyn siblings series - refreshing - a delight...
I did not want it to end :)

One of my favorite Balogh books

This is one of my favorites. It is very emotional. Some of her books are a little drawn out and repetitive to get everyone’s point of view, but this one is just right.

After the last two in the series that were a bit of a disappointment, this finale was excellent!

A bit too much to the other side

While I enjoy the book overall as it is the book on Wulfric, I think it was getting dangerously tiring as it over rotate to Christine’s self pity and cynicism erstwhile described as being a realist. Alas having a fantastic narrator, it saved the book for me.
