Publisher's summary

Volume One includes four full-length novels:

Ever Yours, Annabelle: As a girl, Annabelle Huxley chased Robert Conrad with reckless abandon, and he always rescued her when she pushed too far - until the accident that cost him everything.

The Madness of Viscount Atherbourne: Victoria Lacey's life is perfect-perfectly boring. Surely no one suspects her secret longing for head-spinning passion. Except a dark stranger, on a terrace, at a ball where she should not be kissing a man she has just met.

The Truth About Cads and Dukes: Painfully shy Jane Huxley is in a most precarious position, thanks to dissolute charmer Colin Lacey's deceitful wager. Now, his brother, the icy Duke of Blackmore, must make it right, even if it means marrying her himself.

Desperately Seeking a Scoundrel: Tortured and hunted by a brutal criminal, Lord Colin Lacey is rescued from death's door by the stubborn, fetching Sarah Battersby. In return, she asks one small favor: Pretend to be her fiance. With danger nipping his heels, he knows it is wrong to want her, wrong to agree to her terms. But when has Colin Lacey ever done the sensible thing?

Contains mature themes.

These books were wonderful.

These books was so wonderful, but I have to say my favorite was the CAD book. The Duke and Jane were my absolute favorite. I would definitely recommend the boobs. The storyline click through all four books and continue beyond these four books. What annoys me is that people are putting down the narrator, if you can do this better than she could then by all means go ahead. It’s not an easy job. So let’s give credit where credit is due. If you don’t like narrations then just buy
a book and read it yourself. ..Stay bless everyone

New Author to Me.

I loved getting four books within one title. There are two more after this. Can't wait for the next set. Great introduction to a new author that I haven't read before.

Mixed feelings

I like all but the viscount story. Spoiler: He’s controlling and cruel to her and at one point she blames a woman for completing suicide. I almost DNF’d but I’m glad I pushed thru. You could skip that one and the rest make sense. The narrator had a weird way of pronouncing words and is super slow.

omg the narrator

I originally said: I just started chapter 2 of the first book in this set of 4 books and I seriously don't know if I can even finish chapter 2 because of this narrator.

Update: I sped up the speed of the narrarator on the first book in this set to 1.15 and it was then bearable enough to finish it. Stories 2-3 had better narraration, though I kept the faster speed throughout.

The stories were good. I'm glad I found a way to get through them. I do plan to download any further books in this series right away.

I can't do it

I enjoyed the first story. I suffered through most of the first story until I read a review that gave me the idea to speed it up. That allowed me to finish it at 1.32 speed. I didn't get through the first chapter of the second book and gave up. It was partly due to the story, but mostly due to the narrator. It is not my intent to be rude, I just couldn't deal with her style.

Mediocre brain filler for rainy afternoon

Between occasional Bridgerton aspirations and frequent overdone intimate scenes, the narrator was enough to make my teeth grind. Stories were predictable dose of man meet woman, not suitable, family conflicts, hot passion love scenes followed by incredibly mindless actions by a supposedly intelligent heroine!! What?? Bad people could hurt me?? I’ll leave the safety provided by studly hero and give someone a chance to harm me. Totally annoying. Return imminent.

The compilation of the stories was a pleasure to get as a book.

These stories are sweet and keep you wanting to listen more. I really like Elisa Braden style and her dialogues are so funny. Loved the heroines, enchanting and strong even in difficult moments. The narration made it hard sometimes because the narrator entones almost everything the same, the danger parts and the romantic parts and all, it all sounds sometimes like she is reciting a poem in a tragic voice and it takes away from the natural beauty of the story. However, even with that, the dialogues are fun and the story is enchanting light romance that we all want when reading regency romances. Lovely. Will definitely be looking for more on this author.

Great stories! Bad narration, but got used to it

First, let's address the narration elephant in the room. Yes, it is bad. The narrator rushes her speech and whisper hisses out her words like a pompous snake. Her female voice has an odd accent and her pronunciations always end in a spitting sound. HOWEVER. reducing the speed helped ( .90- .85). I bore with it and tried to treat it as humorous... it worked. At the start of each chapter, she makes this dramatic flourished announcement - it is hysterical! Though, I'm not sure Mary Sarah indented that to be the perception.

As for the stories,:

Book 1 🌟🌟🌟 childhood sweethearts rekindling love into adult desires. Book1 started out slow... too much internal angst repeated, detracting from the points in the storyline. I fpund the mysterous backstory quite engaging. I also liked the idea that these two knew rhey were soulmates since they were 3 & 8 years respectively. They were always drawn to each other and I felt the pain of their separation... but I was disappointed how emotionally immature the FMC was. Also, ahe gives into everything being about him. He called the shots on everything. HE walks back into her life after knowing he ripped it apart, seeing how she is still affected yet never apologized. HE needs to keep her close, keep her safe. HE needs her body. HE needs her as HIS wife. He never once thought about what it would mean to be HER husband. HE decides that they will marry, when they wil, who will or won't attend. HE decides to "take" her and it was so unromantic. No talk of love at all. I was so disappointed in what could have been a wonderful sweet and tender love story. Instead it turned into some uncomfortable "Need to get rid of this hard on" Quest. The author really missed the mark on this one. Also missed editing apparently.

Book 2 is about finding love in the most unlikely persons.

Book 3 🌟🌟🌟🌟 is about an unwanted Ted, somewhat plain chubby gal being tricked into ruin and finding herself having to marry an honorable but unwelcoming Duke... Unsurprisingly, there is more to each of individuals in this forced coupling. As they recognize these desirable traits in each other, the tale turns into a sweet, passionate love story.

Book 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 My favorite of the four. Who does like a Rake who funds true love in a commoner? Especially when the path to love and HEA is a route through intrigue, murder and spying for the crown.

Book #4

Again, I needed to set the speed at 1.1 because otherwise the narration dragged. I had to do this for all the books which means it was the narrator’s fault for reading slow. At least she didn’t put her voice up at the end of sentences as some English performers do. She was just slow and overly dramatic.

The story: This fourth novel was very interesting and the plot was off the beaten path. It is not often that you are introduced to a character who doesn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities but then meet him in a different novel where he is trying to change his life around and you end up liking him. He doesn’t seem to be the same person but you suspend disbelief and read it to a satisfying conclusion. Sarah is an independent woman whose character also goes through big changes but becomes dependent upon Colin and you really can’t blame her. After going through all the ups and downs in her life you can’t blame her for seeking a little respite to her stressful predicaments. As a 21st century woman this normally could get on my nerves, but truth be told, there have been times in my life when I wished someone would come along and just take care of everything that was going on on every level. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has felt this way. So I forgive Sarah for taking the easy way out. Besides, she lived in the 19th century so no one in her time would blame her.
