Great bedtime story

This was a wonderful audiobook for children about using their imagination to calm their fears. There were two stories. In each the parent teaches the child to use her imagination to help explain away her fears.
This audiobook was well produced. The narrator had a soothing voice and told the story in a way that would make any child relax before bedtime. The pace was perfect and unrushed. There were also sound effects to enhance the production.
As an adult I enjoyed listening to this book so I think that children will love it. In particular I think it is good for younger children who are apprehensive about shadows and noises before bed. It is definitely a book that will help to calm their fears.

I would like to thank the author/narrator/publisher for gifting me a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are unbiased and my own.

Cute stories for little ones.

These short children stories were really cute and they are a fun way to explain shadows and noises. If you have little ones I think you will enjoy listening to the with your kids.

Bedtime Stories

I listened to this on my iPod using the audible version.
I love the idea of audio books for children, especially for bedtime! This one is perfect. I can picture a mother and child laying on the bed together listening together. My own daughter is 28 and no grandchildren on the way... yet, so I have to imagine (hint hint).

A lot of children are afraid of the dark, afraid of noises and shadows in the dark. This book is a real nice way of dealing with it together.
These are very quick and easy to understand, so great for the very young.

Also - surprisingly, I really liked the reader! This doesn't happen often. I thought the reader did a great job, especially the children's voices!

Altogether - very enjoyable. Perfect for young kids and parents (or grandparents). I can't wait to listen to this with my own future grandchildren.

Thank you Linda Weaver Clarke for send me this audio for my honest review.

Sweet Stories for Children

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, I think that my cousins with young children would enjoy and appreciate it.

If you’ve listened to books by Linda Weaver Clarke before, how does this one compare?

I actually haven't, this was my first. I liked it.

Which character – as performed by Heidi Allred – was your favorite?

My favorite character was Kayla. I loved her voice.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Sure, I think that it would be a cute children's movie.

Any additional comments?

Cute, sweet read. It fell a little bit too much into gender stereotypes and the stereotypical family unit for me but that's just my opinion. Good read for children who are afraid for one reason or another to go to sleep at night. Narration was very good.

Impressed!

This is my first picture book to listen to. Not having the book to look at the pictures, I wasn't sure abut how much I would like it. But I'm happy to say that I was impressed! With the author's words and the voices of the narrator, I didn't need the book. The words flowed with emotion and fun. I look forward to more from Linda Weaver Clarke and Heidi Allred.

Heartwarming children's nighttime stories.

Any additional comments?

"Shadows In My Room & What's That Noise: Bedtime Stories" by Linda Weaver Clarke is a quaint duo of heartwarming children's stories for nighttime. In both of these stories, a mother helps her young daughter understand her night-time fears, including the proverbial "monster under my bed." While listening, I couldn't help but recall my own experiences as a little girl who would swear I saw ghosts in my window, when in fact it was just a shadow of the hallway light. To this day, I fondly refer to this ghost as my old friend. Linda Weaver Clarke's writing is much like that, very calming and like an old welcomed friend. To this day, I also love to sleep during thunderstorms, which is the point of the second story.

Heidi Allred did a great job narrating, which contributed to my enjoyment of this book. I listened to the Audible version of this book, which is also a children's picture book. I really hope Amazon makes it a Whispersync version as my daughters used to love to listen to books while looking at pictures before they learned to read. Even though I hope this book gets the full Whispersync treatment, you don't need the picture book to enjoy it.

Adorable stories, great reader

What made the experience of listening to Shadows in My Room & What's That Noise? the most enjoyable?

The stories were vivid and easy to imagine. Loved the reader, she had a great mom voice and a good child-like quality.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed the second story, which featured the thunderstorm, the best. I might use those ideas on my own daughters.

Which character – as performed by Heidi Allred – was your favorite?

I enjoyed the little girl, Kayla.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The stories were all very sweet and sentimental. I listened to the book on a walk on a beautiful afternoon, but I plan to go back and have my daughter listen again with me!

Perfect Bedtime Story

This is a sweet little book about a child that is scared at night by different noises and shadows. Her mother comes to her and explains the noises as something fun, such as the moon and the stars playing a game and lightning as fireworks to celebrate. Its basically about using your imagination and turning something scary into something fun. I listened to the audio book with my two kids who are 5- and 6-years old. I think that they were really on the outer cusp of kids who would enjoy the book (but that could also be because my kids don't have those particular fears). I think that this book would be great for a 3- to 4-year old. But regardless, I really liked the message, and really, it can be applied to adults, too. The second story is about a boy who says he's not sleepy, so he doesn't want to go to sleep. What parent and child doesn't relate to that? These were really sweet and short - perfect for a bedtime listen.

Great bedtime story bundle!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Here are several reassuring tales for anxious sleepers. I thought there were only 2 stories so was happily surprised when I heard more being told. They really address the worries both children and adults have about the dark, including fear of shadows, the wind, thunder, and the bizarre ability to deny being tired at bedtime.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved listening to the engrossing tales. The narrator Heidi Allred did all the sounds and used different voices for each character. The way the mother came up with suggestions for everything was impressive, and ones I'll try and remember if I need them later. I can't think of a night fear which wasn't covered in these short yet fun listens that can quite easily. These can easily be listened to one each night rather than all in one go. Unfortunately even knowing shadows are just shadows, having an imaginative mind can make nighttime a tricky situation, especially when wakimg from a nightmare, and Linda's book goes a long way to making sleep much easier for everyone.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of them!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile at how soothing it is.

Any additional comments?

Hope Linda writes more like this!
