About this listen

Life is cruel. Arbor learns this lesson the hard way, when everything he loves is taken from him in a single night. Left alive by the men who butchered his family, Arbor has two options: give up and perish, or rise up and fight to take back the life he's lost. To do that though, he'll have to leave behind the only home he's ever known and venture out into the world beyond.

What he doesn't yet realize, is that the world is a much more dangerous place than he could ever have imagined. A world filled with magic, monsters and mythic beasts powerful enough to destroy entire nations!

Warning: Contains mild profanity and content that may not be suitable for children.

excellent story, poor editing

loved the story but the performance was messed up quite a bit from bad editing. or maybe someone just thought it was a good idea... anytime there was a deep voice talking it would be interrupted halfway through the dialogue by the narrator. that is one of the dumbest things I've listened to and it's a shame this happened in one of Aaron's books. the voice actor's themselves however were fantastic.

slow burn!

Interesting story and narration!

After seeing his family get murdered on his wedding day, the MC goes on a quest to save his sister and get revenge for his family and fiance. Finding out that he has access to mysterious magic he joins a resistance fighting against the tyranny that hired the bandit gang that killed the ones he loves.

Soundbooth does a great job with a narration of this story!

I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Great but…

The story itself is great. But the constant cutting away from one character to another right when you expect a fight I more than a little jarring. Other than that not bad

This was a very good read.

This book is both very fun and at the same time a tear jerker it's very well written and very unique in its story as a whole. I enjoy the sister side of the story a lot more while I like the brother's side as well it just kinda the of typical trope that he gets magic and then is super powerful right away without any real practice though to be fair he does a bit its just nothing like the sisters. The one thing that throws me off is the size of the gremlins one minute they seem to be short the next they're tall like humans and besides that, I find the interplay and just the overall character of the female gremlin that is with the brother, in general, annoying especially towards the end. however minus that little part the book is really good and definitely worth picking up. I will be looking forward to checking out book two once it comes out

The overlay of the narrators

When the narrators talk over each other it’s sometimes nice but sometimes very annoying when it occurs multiple times in a row but overall it was a great book!!!

Fantastic production

This book is what I would imagine would happen if Braveheart had a baby with Harry Potter. There are strong motives of revenge mixed with a cool, original magic system. The world creation is really well down and I am excited to see what happens in subsequent book. The characters are really well written and the narration really brings them to life. It never ceases to amaze me the quality of Soundbooth Theater’s productions. Everything from full cast to sound effects takes the books that they work on to another level.

A lot of walking around for a book called rampage.

I'm going to start with the good. the performance was great as it always is with soundbooth studios, and if you liked the supermage series you'll probably enjoy this one.

However, the character are kind of bland and a lot of things just dont add up, and cant be explained away even with magic. It's more like in some situations the characters straight up know things they shouldn't. Also theres a lot of, "behold this thing or person has a dark and mysterious secret but I'm not going to tell you want it is only that it's dark and mysterious." which honestly just get annoying. Finally I'd like to point out that there is surprisingly little murder for a book called rampage, just saying.

Another Solid Start To A Great Series

I seem to really enjoy Aaron Oster Books. This is an author who in each series develops a solid wide plot to keep delivering amazing books to the series. The character development is vast and informative that allows you to root for a multiple character by the end of the book. This book may have started slow but leaves a unique world open and coming in the next books. A species that just has you dying to find out more about and their god like power to extinction. The magic system going on with the main characters again has you wanting to understand more of by the end of the 16 hours. For me, it was another hit series that after I made it past the slaughter the whole expansive world opened. The twist at the end was great for book 2, Now I just want that budding relationship to grow for book 2.

Impressed

Pretty good story that I wasn’t anticipating. Some predictable situations and a few that were shocking. The twists and turns of brother and sister as they awaken their magic after a devastating event. Time for book 2
