About this listen

A small-town single mom like me has no business believing in fairy tales.

But the very handsome, charming, dirty-talking prince (yes, seriously) I met nineteen months ago now has his fine ass and panty-melting grin planted on my front porch.

He’s been searching for me ever since I snuck out after our hot, fantasy-filled weekend together.

And, dammit, that’s a little romantic.

Now that he’s found me, he wants to pick up where we left off. Because he thinks he’s in love with me.

Oh, and because he needs to get out of the marriage his grandfather, the king, has arranged for him.

Right. Even if I hadn’t lied to him about everything but my first name, the carefree, adventurous woman he burned up the sheets with for three days doesn’t exist.

I'm actually a stressed-out mechanic back in my small hometown, raising a sassy fifteen-year-old daughter, and trying to make amends for my mean girl past.

I just don’t think my grease-streaked work boots scream princess material.

Of course, he won’t take no for an answer.

Shocking, I know.

Instead, he proposes a deal: I give him nineteen days to get to know the real me.

Then he’ll either get over me, go home, and marry someone else.

Or I’ll walk down that aisle.

Rags to Royals is a modern royal romance with a feisty single mom, a golden retriever prince who falls first and hard, and lots of delicious dirty talk and spice. It is the third book in the Royals Gone Rogue series, but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Cian's Story Did NOT Disappoint

Ohhh I have been anxiously awaiting Cian’s story and to finally find out who is mystery woman is, so when we get to meet Scarlett and her daughter, and sister, I was beyond excited!

The beginning of the book can feel like a lot of info and characters thrown at you, so because of that I 100% recommend reading books 1 & 2 first if not for the sake of knowing who everyone is, as well as the back story of how Cian and his family (and Henry) ended up here.

I adored Cian and Scarlett’s story, and really enjoyed Cian’s journey to figuring out where he belonged and fit in, in and out of the royal family. Scarlett is a super mom, and so strong and loving, but can also be super hard on herself. It was fun seeing her finally allow herself to be spoiled a bit by Cian and shown that she IS deserving of love and an HEA, and doesn’t need to beg for it.

This book was full of found family (we get to visit Autre and Cara) and fun characters that kept me hooked from start to finish. The book is also SPICYYYYY which of course had me hooked. Cian has a dirty mouth on him and he absolutely knows how to use it! Whew!

Connor Crais AND Amelia Hugh? Performing in Duet? In an Erin Nicolle book? Sign. Me. Up. IMMEDAITELY. When this audiobook hit my phone, I absolutely devoured it. It's always so fun revisiting these stories after I've already read them - the audio books add such a fun element to the book and quite literally bring the stories to life. It's so great to catch new details I may have missed previously, and when it's performed in duet it's even more fun! Loved this audiobook!

Enjoyable

Scarlet and Cian
4.5*

I listened to the audio. The narrators did an excellent job telling the story and giving the characters a voice.

This is my favorite one so far. This series so far are these hot AF princes who find the loves of their lives while visiting the states. In this one you have Cian the youngest of the boys had spent a couple days with a women who then just disappeared. Almost two years later and no luck finding her finds out that he is to marry Astrid his grandfather's friend's granddaughter and it turns out His bodyguard/friend found his women. Scarlet is a single mom who for one weekend pretended to be her twin sister and throw caution to the wind. She never ment to fall for the guy but as the weekend ends she left and went back to her hometown with her sister and daughter. I enjoyed listening to this I think it was a wonderful story and the dirty talking prince swoon. Can't wait for her twin's story and the other Prince who came back.

Enjoyed the duet-style narration!

Royal romance? Yes, please. Rags to Royal by Erin Nicolle was a sweet and spicy second-chance romance that had me longing for a hot dirty-talking prince of my very own. I enjoyed everything about Scarlett and Cian’s long-awaited journey to HEA. This is book three in Nicolle’s Royals Gone Rogue series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Amelia Hugh and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in duet-style narration. This was the first time I’d heard these two paired together. Amelia’s soft, melodic voice captured Scarlett’s vulnerabilities, hesitancies, and desires as she gave into her true feelings for Cian after nineteen months of absence and longing. Connor brought his signature charm to convey Cian’s persistently swoony golden retriever tendencies that made this prince irresistible. Both narrators created the perfect amount of steamy tension between them, making their chemistry undeniable.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of a royal romance with a hot hunky undercover prince, a hard-working single mom mechanic, small-towns, second chances, a devoted teenage daughter, silver charm elephant bracelets, substitute teachers, back patio steam, close proximity, weekend getaways, new start-up foundations, family health scares, love declarations, more steamy times, and a HEA that will royally bewitch you in the best ways, then you will love Scarlett and Cian’s story. I am looking forward to more from Erin Nicolle.

Thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic story!

I'll be honest in saying Conner Crais could be reading me the IRS tax code and I'd be dreamy eyed and swooning. Seriously though, he and Amelia Hugh were fantastic in the duet narration of Cian and Scarlett In Rags to Royals. Erin Nicolle created a fun, heartwarming modern twist on life as a Royal and an enjoyable ride for Scarlett and Mariah as they navigated their new life.

Scarlett so deserved the "royal treatment" that Cian gave her. That man is pure book boyfriend gold and I love how they both stayed true to the other for almost 2 years after their hot and heavy weekend (and neither of them knew it). They had such a profound impact on each other that they didn't move on. The fact that man looked for her for 19 months proved he was in it to win it and my heart was so happy when they found their way back to each other.

This was my first listen by Erin Nicole but will not be the last. I need to go back and read/listen to books one and two so I can be all caught up. Overall a fantastic listen that I highly recommend.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I loved Ruby and Henry as well and how dreamy Henry's British accent was. I'm hoping to get more from them. *hint hint*

Great story and narration

From the first chapter I was invested in the story that Ms. Nicolle wove about Cian O'Grady and the woman he falls for Scarlett.

Blindsided by his grandfather demanding that he marry within a month Cian is desperate to find the woman he fell for two years ago.

Travelling to Ohio with his bodyguard, Henry after learning she has finally been found, he re-connects with single mum Scarlett.

The story was well paced, the characters engaging and there was a good balance of romance, humour and emotions.

I fell hard and fast for Cian, he is my idea of a book boyfriend. This book was a wonderful read and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

The narration by Connor Crais & Angela Hugh was spot on. They brought the fabulous story and characters to life with their performances and I found myself listening well into the night.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“I want to be out loud about you.”

Rags To Royals was so much more than I expected it to be. I was captivated by the story from the first page and absolutely addicted to Scarlett and Cian by the time I turned the last page. This royal romance will definitely pull at your heartstrings.

Cian is the ultimate cinnamon role hero and he is positively swoonworthy. All he wants in life is to make life easier for those that he loves and to help them achieve their dreams. His support and encouragement of Scarlett help him find his own purpose in life and I loved watching him grow into the prince we always knew he was.

Scarlett broke my heart by how much she just wanted the people in Emerald to accept her. She feels like she has to atone for her past and that has silenced her voice. She lives a small life until Cian barges his way in and helps her realize that she needs to live for herself and not others. With his love, she finds her voice and becomes an even stronger, braver person than she already was.

The audio was narrated by Connor Crais and Amelia Hugh and they were absolutely AMAZING!! Told in duet, both of these narrators brought all of the humor, heat, and heart of this story to life with every emotion displayed in their voices. I fell even more deeply in love with the story hearing it through their performances.

I could not get enough of the push and pull relationship between these two. Their banter was full of sparks and Cian was determined to win her over. Add in their explosive chemistry and passion to help others better their lives and you have two people who were the perfect complement for one another. Rags to Royals was an absolute delight full of humor, heat and heart. I cannot wait for the next story in this addictive series.

Funny, fairy tale prince, perfect narration

What a treat to get an audiobook of Rags to Royals. Narrator Connor Crais makes Cian even more of a rascal and charmer than he appears on the printed page. He’s self-confident to the point of cocky (he is a prince, after all!), but totally smitten and determined not to let his lady get away and Crais lets that all show through. He makes you laugh and definitely makes you swoon. Amelia Hugh is the perfect Scarlett, whether it’s Scarlett being Scarlett as her grumpy, moody, and boring self, or Scarlett pretending to be Ruby, the fun twin. Whoever she is, narrator Hugh convinces us that she has quite a thing for that prince. This is one of those books that is already so extraordinarily good you can’t imagine it being any better, until you listen to two extraordinary voice actors do their thing. Thanks for the audiobook! I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Oh my, oh my, oh my. This was such an amazingly entertaining book, one of those you pick up and instantly know your day is now “booked” – you aren’t going to be putting this one down until you have reached the happily ever after end. My brain was asleep or something and I somehow missed the first two books in this Royals Gone Rogue series, but honestly, Cian is so adorable I’m not sure I could love any other character more. (I will be going back to catch up, anyway!) Seriously, the description of the book on any retailer site should be all you need to entice you to read it, but if not, let me tell you why I loved it so much. Beside the cover that just perfectly captures his happy, sweet, sexy, devastating, irresistible self. That smoking hot smile and all the rest . . . .

Cian O’Grady and Ruby Gale met at a club where Ruby was doing a strip dance. He was instantly mesmerized and she didn’t look very comfortable doing her dance, so he paid for the rest of her evening and they – nope, not that! - went to have a burger. And then spent three wild, steamy, wonderful days together. Not just wild and steamy either. Talking, sharing dreams and ideas, just nice days together, and feelings started to develop. Except Ruby was really Scarlett; she told him Ruby was her stage name and told him bits and pieces of semi-truth, but she knew she wasn’t really the carefree, adventurous woman she was pretending to be and she had no choice but to sneak away. That weekend with the young, handsome, charming, perfect guy would just be a memory to keep her warm – or frustrated.

He wasn’t pretending about anything, and Cian O’Grady really was Prince Charming: Prince Cian O’Grady of the Kingdom of Cara. He fell in love with her then and he’s in love with her now and has been looking for her for almost two years. He’s finally found her and he’s not leaving. A real Prince Charming wants to marry her, so why doesn’t she just swoon at his feet and give in?

Lots of complicated stuff going on. Scarlett was pretending to be Ruby, the fun twin. She’s not glamorous or sophisticated or even nice most of the time, definitely not princess material. She’s moody and grumpy and boring. She’s a single mother raising a 15-year-old daughter. They’re back in Scarlett and Ruby’s hometown because Scarlett feels the need to make amends for her horrible behavior to everyone when she was a teenager and under the influence of her father the evil pastor. She hasn’t forgotten Cian for a second, but not only will he not want her when he finds out how she lied – he’ll hate who she really is. Well, Cian thinks he does still love her, wants to learn everything about her, wants to marry her. And by the way, if he marries Scarlett he doesn’t have to marry the woman his grandfather the King of Cara chose to honor the pact made long ago.

Rags to Royals is hilarious, but there’s a lot more going on. Cian is serious, not just smitten but a determined man in love and willing to work to get her to agree. He’s well-educated, well-traveled, experienced, a good son, a good grandson, a good man. He cares about her daughter and her sister; he works tirelessly to convince her she really did show her true self to him and that’s who he loves. She takes a step forward and then a step back because she still feels guilty about what she thinks of as the sins of her youth. And yes, he’s a few years younger than Scarlett but she’s not an old cougar and their attraction is scorching hot and absolutely impossible to resist. He makes her feel alive and free and like her real self, or the self she could be, full of confidence and hope for the future. If she would just let herself see it.

Author Erin Nicolle has created a huge cast of characters you will fall in love with and a story sprinkled with both ridiculous moments and serious issues to be confronted. Cian is adorable and quite the talker, especially in those private moments. Scarlett is full of fear and guilt but so generous with an overflowing heart, raising a strong teenaged daughter and loyal to her sister, and confesses only to herself that she loves Cian too. Of course this will work out. It has to! Rags to Royals is delightful in every way and made me eager for the next book in the series and determined to go back and start from the beginning, because I want to see everyone get their HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it without hesitation. I voluntarily leave this review and was not compensated in any way; all opinions are my own.

Rags to Royals: Royals Gone Rogue Book 3

UPDATE 🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧 JANUARY 2025

I’ve already reviewed this story so I’m just going to concentrate on narration right now. Amelia Hugh & Connor Crais did an excellent job with their duet performance. I’ve always enjoyed Connor, and it was no different this time around. Amelia Hugh was new to my ears, and it took some getting used to her cadence and style. She comes across as more of a reader than a performer and that’s not a favorite for me. I did not not enjoy this audiobook because of it, but I wasn’t able to get lost in the story like I normally do. Hopefully the more audiobooks I listen to by her, my ears will become more adjusted. I’m not giving up just yet!

One last little tidbit and this is about the story as a whole. When I read the story, this particular *thing* never even crossed my mind, but with the audiobook, it was glaring in my head! The plot point surrounding Scarlett’s insistence she had to live in the town to prove herself just dragged on and went too far in my opinion. Even when it was glaring obvious that it was at the detriment of her family, she kept “keeping on” as they say, and it took a little of the shine out of the story. It didn’t feel like a natural progression to me, rather like conflict that was dragged for the dramatic effect and … #twitchy *shrug* This is the very reason I love to play the “which format may or may not be better” game :) because you just never know how things will hit you in a book and reading and listening can completely change your perspective on a dime! I wouldn’t go as far as to say one is better than the other in this case but maybe … (lol)

eBook Review October 2024

I am completely and irrevocably smitten with Royals Gone Rogue and Erin Nicolle! Some of you are probably wondering what took me so long to be smitten by her since she’s Erin Nicholas, who’s been publishing fantastic stories since like forever! Amirite? You’re wondering? Well, it’s because it seems like a million years ago since I read her so it’s all fresh and new and fridiculously fantastic!! But I digress … about Rags to Royals …

First of all, I’m pretty sure I laughed out loud thru most of the story! The story was flirty and charming and entertaining and also emotional! It was all the things people! ALL OF THEM! I am so hyped over it that I can’t wait to get it in my ears! I really like the choices Erin made for not just the characters but also the storyline. I liked that it wasn’t easy peasy for Cian to waltz into Scarlet’s life and convince her he’s the one. He had to work it and it was so devastatingly swoony and also moving and heartfelt. It felt very real and relatable even though he’s a royal. Feel me? I love that Cian and Mariah were a team and her character wasn’t written in the typical nonconformist way teenagers are mostly portrayed. She was on #TeamCian and helped every step of the way! *heart eyes*

I don’t want to say anything else for fear I might let slip a circumstance in the story that will spoil it for you because you should really experience everything about not just this story but this series with fresh eyes and a blank brain. LOL It’s how I have experienced it from the very beginning, and I have never been more captivated and in love with a whole lot of fictional people like I am with every single character, including the sketchy ones, in this huge circle! I should really get my act together and read more of Erin’s work because my kindle says I own *whispers* 30 of them shsssss! Lol
