Publisher's summary
What’s more dangerous than joining the Vandar to crush the Zagrath? Being taken captive by the deadly creatures who rule the sector—and consider prisoners to be expendable.
Cassie is eager to join her fellow resistance fighters when they team up with the Vandar hordes, but working on the Vandar ship means she's now colleagues with the tough aliens and answers to the new warlord, Raas Aydan. She's used to the Vandar being scary, but the Lost Vandar are different, and she's never had a man look at her the way Raas Ayden does.
When a mission to the lawless Jarvelon sector goes awry, the Vandar raiders are the least of Cassie's worries. The mercenary gang that captures her and Thea is only interested in trading her to the empire so the Vandar can be lured to their destruction. But when Raas Ayden arrives to rescue her, she realizes that he might be the most dangerous creature after her.
Prisoner is a full-length sci-fi romance novel with a HEA and no cheating. It features steamy scenes in an enemy prison ship, alien horde space battles, and some serious heat.
If you like dominant alien warriors, alien abduction to seduction romance, and fated mates with a happily ever after, you’ll love Prisoner, the eighth book in Tana Stone’s sci-fi romance Raider Warlords of the Vandar series.

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

On a serene night in 1953, Sally Mason, a dedicated wife and mother of two, drives a twisting road on her way home from night school. Suddenly, a mysterious bluish-white light descends over the road. Terrified, Sally slams on the brakes. After a flash of bright light nearly blinds her, she passes out, awakening to the persistent knock of a police officer on her car window. When she sees the officer and remembers her frightening experience, she screams and faints, and is rushed to the hospital.

Steamy and captivating alien romance
I loved Cassie and Ayden’s slow burn, alien, brainy girl romance with a side of capture. Cassie is a geeky, shy human and a navigator for the Valox resistance. She has been working on a Vandar warbird helping to design the plan to attack the Empire. Ayden is acting as Raas of the Kyrie Vandar while the permanent Raas is visiting one of the hidden colonies. Cassie and Ayden are attracted to one another but neither has acted on the attraction. Cassie and two other females are captured during a mission to the lawless Jarvelon sector and the Vandar must rescue them. There was a great balance of romance and suspense in this book which made it unputdownable. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, painful pasts, drama, snark, plot twists, secrets, and laughs. I could read about Vandar warriors all day especially their reaction to human females. I love them.
Marcio Catalano and Aubrey Vincent did a phenomenal job narrating the stories and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I love the growly Vandar voice.

Excellent!
Prisoner is the eighth Vandar Sci-Fi Romance with the audio book version capturing all the essence and spirit of the story as another drool worthy alpha warrior finds his human mate.
Raas Aydan and Cassie are the perfect couple only it takes Aydan having Cassie go missing on a mission for the realization to hit him, even though all the signs were there prior, stubborn Vandar. Getting her back is now HIS mission!
Excellent writing, plenty of action, and adventure along with spicy passion made this story another series winner.

Great adventure.
The universe built by the author is full of excitement and romance. Great characters. I enjoyed that the story picks up where the last one left off. While the series can be read out of order reading it in order is best because each story focuses on a new couple but builds off the last book. The connection between all the books and even the other series makes it that much more interesting. The narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life.

not my favorite in the series but still fun
This book was a little short and there want enough build up to the romance. I think this book would have benefited from having the couple spend more time together building up some steam. I still enjoyed the story for the most part and the narrators were great as usual.

The series is full of action, balanced with humor, and of course the heat that our author does so well!! This book has all of that and keeps the series on course and sets us up for the next book.

exciting Audiobook
Prisoner is the eighth book in the Raider Warlords of the Vandar and the second book in the Lost Vandars mini spinoff. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I even went back to read this book again in print. A mission gone wrong, crash landing on a planet, being captured, a hero would die trying to save his mate. This exciting story is filled with adventure, suspense and action. I highly recommend this book and series. I can't get enough of these Vandar heros and badass human women.
