About this listen

Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.First published 1818. Pure Enjoyment

Wonderful story teller gave the author every respect to her work. The pauses not between chapters was a bit odd but no other hiccups within this book

As every bit as lovely

My first, and certainly, not last audible. Amazing experience, never thought that hearing a book was as wonderful as reading it, I was so wrong. It is magical.

Great!

This is my favorite book which I know just about by heart. The reader gives voices and attitudes to each character which are exactly right.

Beautifully Written and Beautifully Read

Anne, in not initially possessing the spirit of Elizabeth or Emma, almost makes herself a more real, more relatable human. Being in her late twenties, she is a young woman by today’s standards, but has gained a level of maturity that Austen’s other popular heroines (with the exception of Elinor) cannot claim. The story of Anne and Wentworth is just as vital to your Austen library as any other of her stories.
Scacchi does an excellent job with this novel. Her expressions and characterizations are just right to pull one into the story, without overdoing anything in particular. I enjoyed it very much.
