About this listen

Suicide is selfish.

It tells the world that you are weak. It tells the world your family and friends have failed. It leaves them with guilt that they could have done more but didn't. It tells them they are clueless and helpless.

I am weak, but I am not selfish.

My suicide will not leave my family and friends with guilt and shame; it will leave them thankful that they knew me for the short time I was here.” – Cosette Hugo

Her brother died. Her parents divorced. Her high school bully is relentless. Cosette doesn't have a lot to live for, but it isn't until she accidentally kills someone that Cosette makes the decision to take her own life. Unwilling to bring shame to her mom, best friend Mattie, or her boyfriend Chris, Cosette decides the best method of suicide is to become a victim of the local serial killer, The Poser. But every time she goes out to find him she gets attacked; her instincts take over, and she ends up killing her attackers. This quickly leads to unbearable guilt. Desperate to finish this before she gets caught or racks up more victims, Cosette does the unthinkable.

“And when I reach my final goal, to meet my brother in heaven, and we're looking down at my victim in Hell, he will say to me ‘Well done, Cosette. What a Beautiful Suicide.”

WHAT A BEGINNING!

This audio-book grabbed me IMMEDIATELY! I have no idea what is coming next, but I want to run to the author and drag it out of her! Not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle some sensitive subject matters GET THIS AUDIO! Looking forward to the final 2 books in this series!

Starts great then becomes too macabre

I actually was getting a kick from this young “Dexter” who finds herself accidentally thrust into life-or-death situations but when she becomes sexually aroused at the hint of taking lives, even of innocents, she, and the author, lost me.

Fascinating Perspective with a few surprises

The story point of view makes this particularly intriguing. Cosy is a character you really support from first introduction. Her story is one I would recommend to adults or YA even though I did not classify it in that manner. The teenage situation would make both audiences become fans.

Michelle did a great job with her narration adding that extra layer of emotion which I like with my audiobooks. Though i was not able to listen in one sitting, when I came back to it I was I was immediately immersed back into the story.

Great character development by Atty and I suspect the same will be true with Volume 2. It was easy to relate some of the drama back to young people I know or knew when I was in high school.

The cliffhanger aspect will certainly make me consider Volume 2 when it is released. I think this series will get even stronger over time.

Bring on Volume 2.

🌟🌟 5 Stars 🌟🌟

This book was recommended to me by a friend who knows my taste and I started it immediately when she described it as Cruel Intentions meets Pretty Little Liars meets Heathers... that alone had me completely intrigued. And man she was completely right, I think it was mostly like Heathers which I loved.

I hesitate to say this is YA because it's not, it just has teenage characters not teenage situations. This book was dark and twisty and I listened until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer! It would have been one I finished in 1 day if I had started it earlier. I love when a book pulls me in and it's like an accident you can't look away from, you know the kind, the book you know your not supposed to like cause it's dark and a whole lot of messed up but you love it and want to tell the world about how good it is! I don't want to tell anything about the story in my review because these are the type of stories I think are best enjoyed when you go in blind. It ended in a cliffhanger but not one that had me screaming at the author and it probably helps that I know book 2 will be out on audio very soon! This author just moved herself onto my auto buy list with just 1 book!

The narration was perfect! Michelle Sparks really did an awesome job as Cozy & as Chris. She is the type of narrator that makes you forget your listening to someone read you a story and makes you feel like your there while it's happening.

Twisted, dark, gritty and unexpected

For fans of Dexter. Eve offers a unique story, and while the characters are teens in high school, the content is purely adult. It's the story of a broken girl who finds releases in a dark way. Cosette has issues from being bullied at school to a disfunction home life. Her suicidal thoughts have her seeking out danger and with it she finds release, combine that with her odd boyfriend and a Cosette is reborn.
Michelle Sparks did a fantastic job capturing the characters emotions and enhancing Eve's story.

Not what I was expecting

My Beautiful Suicide was not what I was expecting. I expected a dark story, which we got, but it is so much more than that. This story is so complex that I soon myself hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for what was coming next. This book has a bit of mystery as well. Just when I thought I had it figured out, BAM! Another twist. While I guessed the whodunit at one point, I was still shocked when it was revealed. I only briefly suspected the person. While this book discusses suicide, I feel the book is much more than just that. It is about a lot of complex issues.

The narrator, Michelle Sparks, really brought this story to life for me. I will be honest, I am not sure I would have fell as in love with this story had it not been for Michelle. Her voice is pleasant as velvet, but also adds an air of mystery to the story. I really love how she is able to bring each character to life and give them their own personalities. I didn't feel as if one person was reading this book. I felt as if each character was present and I was hearing the book from each of them.

My Beautiful Suicide

Wow! At first, I was mad at the adults in this book, because I wondered how blind could they be to Cosette's pain. One thing this book teaches is that one can look whole on the outside, but be breaking down inside. It's the story of a girl who decides to stand up for herself, and not in the way that some may think; a girl who is broken inside and all of her the hurt spills out in a dangerous way.

I loved it! It was gritty, emotional, and for me, a bit sad. How does one get to the point of deciding to end their life or to the point where they feel they can't tell you that they stopped something horrific from happening. I was rooting for Cosette. I could feel her turmoil. I was scared for her. Michelle Sparks' narration made me feel like I was Cosette. Her narration allowed me to see and feel everything that was taking place. When Cosette's mom was telling her about Hilda, I actually felt my heart beating fast, as she tried to pretend that she didn't care. I wanted to cry. This will make a wonderful movie.
