Publisher's summary

A stunning breakout novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Still Missing in which a woman is convicted of her sister's murder.

Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school and who may have darker secrets than anyone realizes. Before Toni can truly move on, she must risk everything to find out the truth and clear her name.

Couldn't put it down.

Any additional comments?

I listened to or read all of Chevy Stevens' books so far and found this as good or better than the others. It kept my attention 100% of the time and I couldn't wait to listen to it. I also found the narration excellent. I can't wait for the next one. I loved the character growth and what I learned about life in prison and what parole exactly is. The romantic side of the novel was wonderful as well. I am sorry I finished it!

Canadian New Black?

I have enjoyed most of Chevy Steven's thrillers, they had unique setting, rural Vancouver Island, and she presents difficult families fairly and compellingly. Toni is released fifteenth years after being convicted of her sister's murder and wants to restart her life more than she wants clear her name. Her (ex)boyfriend, Ryan, who was convicted for the and crime insists they must clear their names by finding out what happened that night.
This novel tiks all the well boxes: well written, well paced, well characterised. Great fun.

Engaging story, mediocre narration

Where does That Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I found the story thoroughly entertaining, but really felt bad for the narrator. It must have been agony reading this whole book with a clothespin clamped on her nose.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Night?

he last confrontation between Toni and Shawna.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Nasal voice of narrator

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it wasn't THAT compelling

This book kept my interest.

This book wasn't the kind of book that you think about for days after. It's not the kind of book that you are ever going to hear anyone say "it was life changing", but it was a good listen. The narrator was just perfect for the story. You truly believe it is her telling her own personal story. During the book I just wanted to grab the mother's shoulders and shake her until she quit being such a witch. It takes a good book to make you want to physically shake some sense into a character. It was well written and the characters were very well developed. It's probably not going to make anyone's top ten list, but I enjoyed it.

narrator has a cold

great book but I'm honestly surprised this was recorded when the narrator clearly has a cold. I found it very distracting.

The middle moment ruined it.

1. The narrator is good about 50% of the time. Then there's weird periods where she is so nasal it sounds like she read it through a head cold. Then there's moments where she reads in a weird accent for no reason and then just stops?
2. This book was decent - good listen. Definitely waiting to see where it was going. and then the big moment. Huge let down. Does the author not have a sibling? Friends? Let's just say the explanation for why they were together yet not together makes no sense.
If you're at work and need something in the background, not a bad choice. If you're down to your last credit - not worth it.

Loved It!

I’ve read a few of Chevy Stevens books, and I’ve loved every single one. There is something about the way that she writes that just drags me into her stories. I felt like I could see each character and feel the emotions surrounding them. This book was fabulous. I loved the main characters and plot twists. I found myself rooting, angry, sobbing and smiling. I definitely recommend this book.

Choked up

This was one of the most moving books I've had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. I literally got choked up several times throughout the story hearing the injustice that these poor kids went through. The author made me feel like this has probably happened an untold number of times in Anytown, USA. The narration was top notch also. I could not stop listening! Read this book. Listen to this book. You will not regret it.
