His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Story
The paradox of awareness is very profound and yet very simple. It can't be described because it has no objective qualities and no limitation. Sometimes it comes naturally to the surface when we are fully in the present moment and no longer lost in thought or mental projections. Pure consciousness is neither high nor low, neither pleasant nor unpleasant, neither good nor bad. No matter where we are, no matter what we are doing, we always have an immediate access to that inner stillness.

Surprisingly Amazing
I didn't think much of this at first glance, talk about judging a book by it's cover! After the loss of my Dad I was going through a hard time. I started trying to learn more about spirituality and meditation, and I found this book. I assumed it was going to be another BS pretentious guru telling you just follow this path and you will have true happiness guaranteed.
But I found it to be the opposite, it was a very humble and simple beginners entry into meditation. Giving what seemed like obvious & too basic at first. But as I listened, many of the ideas really hit home. Being able to "be" but not keep overthinking, and heal from grievances. How we can love our enemies. That has been one of my hardest things in life, but the author put it in a way, that for once in over 32 years I could actually understand why I should love someone who does me wrong and hate me.
This is a fairly short listen, I will probably have to give it another go for a second round at some point, but I do suggest getting this and see for yourself.
