Acerca de esta escucha

A young woman harnesses her newfound power to challenge the ruthless man who controls her, in this brilliant and provocative novel from the award-winning author of Parable of the Sower.

Mary is a treacherous experiment. Her creator, an immortal named Doro, has molded the human race for generations, seeking out those with unusual talents like telepathy and breeding them into a new subrace of humans who obey his every command. The result is Mary: a young black woman living on the rough outskirts of Los Angeles in the 1970s, who has no idea how much power she will soon wield.

Doro knows he must handle Mary carefully or risk her ending like his previous experiments: dead, either by her own hand or Doro's. What he doesn't suspect is that Mary's maturing telepathic abilities may soon rival his own power. By linking telepaths with a viral pattern, she will create the potential to break free of his control once and for all—and shift the course of humanity.

More fascinating than X Men!

Amazing and exciting story about power, freedom, and social connections. Beautifully performed by Robin Miles, and incredibly multi faceted reader. Very satisfying conclusion to the story of Doro and his children.

I missed Anyanwu!

The narration was flat. I couldn't tell when different characters were speaking because her voice was monotone.

Fantastic (part 2) story and a great listen!

Robin Miles is now one of my favorite narrators! I loved the story AND the ending! It was riveting. A great story to get lost in about being who you are despite who you come from and how you were raised.

The ending was extremely satisfying

I am pleased with this series so far. The ending had a twist I didn't even think of. I thought it would end similar to the first book. Very captivating

A wonderful work of fiction

This book definitely carries over from the first book. I enjoyed the highs and the lows. It's just for me. The ending that last scene could use maybe like five more sentences, only because I like battle scenes whether they are in the physical world or in the mental world. 4/5

Great story, Narration not so much

Love the story live Octavia. The narration has little voice inflection sometimes it was difficult to understand which character was speaking

Amazing concept and characters

If you read Wildseed and liked it, you will love this. If you read Wildseed and you didn’t like it then this book is ALSO for you. The concepts of connection, severance, race, gender, eugenics, state control feature heavily in this psychological tale of a woman who is bred to do one thing, but takes an unexpected path that draws her into conflict with her creator and tasked with forging a new society. The characters are stunningly complex, the pacing and length are perfect. The world is mostly the world you know and this is what makes it easy to explore the complexities of the books key concepts. It’s beautifully performed by Robin Miles. Her voice work is excellent and makes the story even more immersive than it would be in print.

Great story, mediocre narration

The story is great. Really leaves you wanting to read the next. You can tell that Wild Seed was written after this one as they are quite unrelated, and the depth of Anyanwu’s character is completely absent here, like it hadn’t been conceived yet. So if you’re reading to find out more about her story, you’ll be disappointed.

After listening to Robin Miles’ amazing narration of Wild Seed, Christie Clarke’s reading of Mind of My Mind was a big letdown. While not unlistenable, it was very flat and monotone. I kept losing track of what was going on and couldn’t tell who was speaking ever. Still worth a listen.

Too Short

I liked the book. I wanted more but the story was full and complete.
I finished faster than I have any other book.
