When Luke, the boy that Nesta has been dating, declares passionate love for T.J., she doesn't know what has hit her. She does her best to avoid him, but when the local schools are asked to work together on a project, Luke is chosen as the overall coordinator and T.J. has no choice but to report back to him on a regular basis. Misunderstandings and miscommunications threaten the girls' friendship and split them into two camps: Lucy and Nesta, Izzie and T.J. Will their friendship survive? Editorial reviews

In her Mates and Dates series, Cathy Hopkins has a knack for honing in on the trials of being a teenager, the things that can make friendships and relationships equally difficult and exciting. In this, the eighth entry of the series, loyalties are called into question when T. J. is assigned to a school project with Luke, the boyfriend of one of her best friends, and he expresses feelings for her that confuse the allegiances of their close circle of friends. Nicky Talacko's peppy performance melodically flirts through the audiobook. She voices the perspective of a teenage girl without resorting to cliché making this a fun, easy listen with notes of the harsh realities of growing up.
