Publisher's summary

From the marvelous author of Heartstopper comes an exceptional YA novel about discovering that it's okay if you don't have sexual or romantic feelings for anyone...since there are plenty of other ways to find love and connection.

This is the funny, honest, messy, completely relatable story of Georgia, who doesn't understand why she can't crush and kiss and make out like her friends do. She's surrounded by the narrative that dating plus sex equals love. It's not until she gets to college that she discovers the A range of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum - coming to understand herself as asexual/aromantic. Disrupting the narrative that she's been told since birth isn't easy - there are many mistakes along the way to inviting people into a newly found articulation of an always - known part of your identity. But Georgia's determined to get her life right, with the help of (and despite the major drama of) her friends.

Dear Listener,

What do I hope listeners will get out of the audio experience of Loveless?
"My journey to writing Loveless began with the desire to write a story about platonic love in the same way writers often write about romantic love—like something magical, timeless, and world-changing. We live in a world where romance itself is romanticized. Everyone is expected to find their perfect person, fall in love, get married, and grow old together, and if you stray from that path, you've failed at life...right? What happens when that path is impossible for you? That is the question that Loveless's protagonist, 18-year-old Georgia, faces upon the discovery that she is most likely asexual and aromantic, meaning she does not experience attraction to any gender. But what she and Loveless's main characters learn is that despite all the love stories, the love songs, the expectations of their parents and society, and their own visions of their future, they can find love and joy elsewhere. I hope that Loveless will help readers to see that too—that you don't have to fall in love to find your happily ever after." – Alice Oseman, writer of Loveless

This book is a home run

Not only is this book a home run, but Billie Fulford-Brown's narration is real, grounded, an absolute sensation of a performance. One of my favorite audiobooks this year.

This is my favorite book

I was so excited for this book to get the US publication. It’s so nice to finally have representation. It’s such a fun story and extremely related as a person on the asexual spectrum. This is something I want to share with everyone.

The performances was great and fun. Never taking me out of the moment.

So freaking sweet.

This book is written so tenderly. What a loveable read! The narrator is also wonderful in distinguishing characters.

I LOVED THIS BOOK

This book is straight up AMAZING. As a AroAce I loved being able to relate to Georgia, The performance of the story was amazing, you could always tell who was speaking and what each person was feeling, everything was just phenomenal and I wish that i could forget it all so I can experience it again, cause it was just that good!
(SPOILERS)
I relate to every part of Georgia’s story, the fake crush, the believing in wanting a boyfriend/girlfriend, the having to accept that a boyfriend/girlfriend is actually not what she wants. It was all things that I had to go through/accept as well. I loved being able relate to Georgia so well.
So thank you, Alice.

LGBTQIA+ Positive

I love things to do with LGBTQIA+ but I wish that they all just never had disagreements or felt sad

Loved it! ❤️

Very thought provoking and with the narrator performance, was a truly wonderful experience! I loved the wholesome friendship among the cast and I especially loved and related to the MC who was also questioning and worrying about her sexuality. I loved this book as this brought great comfort to someone like me who, too would often think and wonder of my own sexuality. Will totally re-listen to this again when I have the time and definitely recommend!!

Delightful & relatable!!!

I loved it! it was also really nice to have a story about an aroace person that doesn't conclude that they'll end up alone and unhappy. 💜

MAKE A SEQUEL AND A SPINOFF PLEASE

(slight spoiler) I really really love how flushed out all of these characters are. Each one with their own struggle and other personal relationships established. Truly any of the Shakespeare Soc could get a spinoff, but I want more of the Pip and Rooney perspective story. Rooney alluding to her feelings towards her and Georgia's shared bedroom seemed like such an interesting perspective, same with her view on her nights out. And Georgia has so much more, her family, the rest of school, living with her friends. Please make more. Please.
