Publisher's summary

This program is read by the author.

The empowering, inspiring, patriarchy-smashing first book by podcast star Drew Afualo.

Drew Afualo is best known as the internet’s “Crusader for Women” and is at the head of a new generation of entertainment’s rising stars. Loud is part manual, part manifesto, and part memoir. It makes it clear that behind her fearsome laugh is a mission and a life philosophy, a strategy for self-confidence from the inside out, and a pathway to once and for all remove men from the center of how women and femmes think about themselves.

Afualo has amassed more than nine million followers across her social platforms. When she first started creating content in 2020, she realized that men on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and other apps were creating sexist content aimed at disparaging women, and also containing rampant fatphobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry, with very real-life consequences. It didn’t take long for her to step into the role of unofficial watchdog for misogyny, and her signature laugh is now recognized as a feminist call to arms, a summoning cry to rid the internet (and our hearts, minds, and lives) of “terrible men” and create a space to fight outdated patriarchal ideals.

Moving and Eye Opening

I love Drew! This book made me cry, clap, laugh, and even triggering a bit! I had to pause and rewind MANY times because I seriously wanted to absorb every single word or I simply needed to listen to a certain sentence 10 times to ingrain it into my mind. I told all me fem friends that if they don't like the book then I will pay for it! You're doing the damn thing Drew! 👏 👏👏👏👏

Eye opening, funny , and sad look into the life of women/fems and what they go through on a daily basis

My wife asked me too listen and so grateful she did. This book not only gave me look into the life of women/fems but being a sis whatever make it forced me too look at my own misogynistic tendencies. This book has helped me become a better ally to my daughters and wife and all around person period

Knowing your worth!

This book was amazing. Drew is one of my favorites creators and now authors. She wrote an incredibly well thought out and clearly written journey of her self discovery. Her ability to connect with her audience on so many levels was fantastic.

Amazing book

It’s a memoir mixed with self-help vibe, Drew dives deep into misogyny and the patriarchy, but with like a tender other side that we don’t really get to see her a lot where she talks about her family and her parents and her life story very good book. Highly recommend.

One of the most important reads/listens every single person should do.

Let me just start off by saying that I cried no less that 7 different times while listening to the queen herself talk about not just her own personal growth and experiences but her insight into the world around us. This book had me tearing up from personal stories and cracking up out loud at her insane humor. Drew is a highly intelligent woman and this book is one of the many things that proves it. She is a breath of fresh air in this world, one that we desperately need.

Family story

This book should be listened by all young women (and old like me). It describes perfectly what it feels like to be a woman, especially a woman of color, around awful men. Recommend 100%

Had me bawling like constantly, and feeling like I could do anything.

While listening to this book I started standing up for myself more, in small ways like Drew suggested and I was so proud of myself when I did. thank you drew!
