The twist in the story was down played and it took the wind out of the ending. The movie Love and Friendship is based on this book and is an excellent watch.

The language is beautiful

This is a favorite work and I have listened to many versions. what a JOY to hear ED'S vibrant delivery of a character.

This was a very well matched ensemble. The audio levels are well balanced, and each does a very good job.
(I'm just an EL fan :-) )

Elizabeth Klett is a standout reader/performer

Not much plot, and a lot of names and family/social connections to keep track of in this short novella. Some of narrators were good, a few were overly dramatic or difficult to understand. The movie version of this story, "Love and Friendship", offers a different interpretation of the material here.

Through letters the listener learns of the adventures of Lady Susan Vernon and those who come in contact with her. We learn the fate of her daughter who is most unfortunate to have Lady Susan for a mother, but you will have to listen to find out why. My favorite actor was Elizabeth Klett who read the letters of Lady Susan, herself. I've listened to many of Ms. Klett's audio books and she has a wonderful English accent and a beautiful voice. In addition, all the other reader/performers were excellent, also. They read their letters with great expression and feeling. All in all, a truly enjoyable listening experience. I wish it could have been longer!

Excellent dramatization!

Marrying a Jane Austen novella with talented narrators is a match made in heaven. Lady Susan is an epistolary novel (written in letters) which is perfectly suited to multiple narrators. It had been years since I've read this and enjoyed the audio rendition very much. Listening to this also made me appreciate the recent film version (Love and Friendship) even more.

Perfect

Although it was required reading for a fiction class, I'm glad it was. Different type of Austen...loved it!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?

Juliet Stephenson should narrate all books
