This is Georgette Heyer at her very best!!! I had listened to Cornelius Garrett’s version of this book, and he did a fine job; however, Alexander Vlahos lends a suavity to the narration lacking in Mr. Garrett’s. His interpretations of all the men characters is superb… making each of them totally distinctive from one another. And he does a wonderful job rendering the voices of the women.. something it is very hard to do for male narrators. Georgette Heyer is of course the quintessential Regency romance author. She never had to reply on bad language, sexual content, etc. She just wrote witty stories that included intrigue, mystery, drama, etc., all of which is included here. And her books were always historically accurate. This book has less humor than some of her other books, but Rupert keeps one chuckling almost all the way through. If you have never read one of Ms. Heyer’s books, you are in for a treat.

I've noticed multiple mispronunciations and some phrases mangled. And his character portrayal is not the best.

I first read this book 6 years ago. I enjoyed it so much. I read it out loud to my husband. I decided I wanted an audio copy and listened to samples of the narrators. I enjoyed Alexander Vlahos the most. He was closest to the way I heard Leon in my head. At the time I could not buy his narration on audible. I decided to look for other vendors. I found an MP3 version and purchase that. Was so excited to find this one available on Amazon. I have listened to it twice in the week that I have owned it.

The narration here is very good, I think. He has a pleasant voice and does interesting character work

I think I bought it on sale but I already have it in my collection. I want to return it but can’t. I like the other narrator better anyway. This one is fine, just more sedate/ less funny.

Very poorly registered and worst read. Too bad because the book merits a lot more. I'll not finish the reading and will return it

I love Georgette Heyer but did not enjoy this recorded version at all by Puffin. What has happened to the Audible Original version read by Cornelius Garret?? His performance is excellent. Unfortunately I was not able to order that version and now I can't even find it. Very unhappy.
