About this listen

She would follow him through peace and war.

London, 1811

The London Season is ushered in with a thrilling flurry of invitations, gowns, and parties. But despite her status as belle of the ball, lovely socialite Emma Drake simply cannot fathom becoming entangled with any gentleman of her acquaintance. For in truth, since childhood her heart has belonged to Captain Sidney Fletcher, a man of the sea - and her brother's best friend. Emma knows that Sidney's directive to free the Spanish city of Cadiz from French occupation will be dangerous, but when word arrives of his capture, she is frantic. Determined to aid her brother in Sidney's rescue, she hides aboard his ship and sets a course to Spain. But the realities of war are a far cry from the drawing rooms of London, and Emma finds the man she loves a mere shadow of his former self. When a series of events leaves them trapped together behind enemy lines, Emma and Sidney must embark on a journey fraught with danger - from a bloody hunt for Spanish treasure to the battlefields of war-torn Spain, new threats lurk around every turn. As their flight becomes increasingly perilous, Sidney and Emma must trust each other with their lives - but can they trust the other with their heart?

Lady Emma’s Campaign

Delightful and heart gripping. The fear and savagery of war are very real. I just finished the book and I’m still unsettled by the vivid descriptions laid out in the book. Though there weren’t many, it was enough to print the pictures. Well done. I need something lighthearted now.

This was an absolutely wonderful book

I appreciate how it tastefully, yet realistically outlined the horrors of war, and the effect that it has on those truth participate, by stand, and flee from it, as well as those heroes who try to end it, and it’s atrocities. I also liked how it showed the effects of PTSD, and what helps combat it.

MY TAKE
I have not read these books order. That's okay. Moore does a good job of making each book a story into itself. However, I realized that some of the characters I knew, besides Sidney and Emma (and her brother William and his wife Amelia, of course). I didn't realize at first that the soldier and the other woman who came away from the prison after their escape were the princess and her rescuer from Miss Burton Unmasks a Prince. I LOVED that book, and now I want to go back and read it again just because I understand more about those too than I did before.

As for Lady Emma's Campaign. This was a charming story, and I was happy to see Sidney get his own HEA. He's such a fun character from the Becoming Lady Lockwood. It was fun to see Emma go after what she wanted (Sidney). She was a little irritating at first because she was young, incredibly naive, and pretty spoiled. She wanted what she wanted and was so disheartened when the world didn't give it to her the way she wanted it.

But the Colonel recognized the strength in her, and her character arc was a fun journey. She found out so much about herself. The face-to-face with Sidney (which I won't spoil) showed truly how much she had grown. And was poignant, making the ultimate ending very sweet.

An unexpectedly great story

I started out not very enthused about Emma’s character, but she developed a lot throughout the story. I truly enjoyed this story
