About this listen

Cassidy Kincaide runs Trifles & Folly in modern-day Charleston, an antiques and curio shop with a dangerous secret. Cassidy can read the history of objects by touching them, and she teams up with friends and allies who use magic and paranormal abilities to get rid of cursed objects and keep Charleston and the world safe from supernatural threats.

Caribbean ghosts terrorize Charleston and start racking up a body count. Then Beckford Pendlewood, the heir to a powerful family of dark warlocks, shows up raving about a bound demon locked in a lost box and begs sanctuary. Can Cassidy and her friends find the demon box, stop the killer ghosts, and break the Pendlewood curse before Beckford's murderous cousins and the vengeful demon destroy them all?

Solid addition to the series

This book was enjoyable and filled a need for good entertainment just kind of like comfort food. The only reason I gave the Performance a 4 was that I missed the previous reader from the other books who had a thicker southern accent that made me laugh. This book is a touch of urban fantasy, a little local history (some of it even real), and a touch of mystery/horror just as you would expect from one of Gail Z. Martin's books. So if that is what you are longing for, grab yourself a glass of sweet tea and settle in for a good time.

Attack of the cousins

This book really brought out allllll of the background and side characters from the series. I liked seeing how they worked together to solve the mystery and face off against the assortment of Caribbean critters and the big bads. I dislike the repetitive reminders of how irritating the “psycho dog barking” is. Our neighbors have several absolutely awful dogs that are so loud and obnoxious, and they make me despise Baxter. A dog that barks frenetically every time someone walks by is not lovable, just annoying. The narrator is perfect for this series.

wow

Wow just wow! I started this book at stupid o clock and could not put it down until I was done. I came about this book from wanting read a crossover from the Badlands series (Morgan Brice) with my favorite mm Paranormal couple.

This book starts with a bang and the action doesn't stop til the epic end! Great story now I need to read the rest of this series!

OK I'll start off I generally only listen to mm books because female narrarators tend to annoy me this was nit the case at all with Courtney Patterson! she is amazing! will be checking out more books done by her.

Welcome to the family!

First… I like this narrator better than the first one but Amanda Ronconni ( who narrates Trifles and Folly ) is sooo much better. Now the story. All the extras with previous mentions in other stories and have their own series come together. The story isn’t as intense as the others but it’s still good .

Not the best in this series

So I came on these books by accident and loved them. Great narrator, great stories. However, if I had read this particular story first, I would not have continued the series. First of all, she brings in a bunch of new characters that the MC apparently has had these connections with this whole time. There seem to be so many that I can't keep track of them. At the end of the last book, there was a possible boost to Teagu's power but there is no follow up in this book at all. In fact, it feels like she isn't really teaming up with him a lot. They were inseparable in the other stories. The other thing that I noticed is she isn't using Bo's ghost anymore. And a minor point, it's a new narrator. I preferred the other one quite a bit more. This one isn't as good with the male voices. That's just a personal preference. She doesn't ruin the telling of the story, but it was a little jarring when you have been listening to the stories back to back. I will go on and listen to the next in the series, I'm just hoping that it improves.
