About this listen

Jacob A. Hinson thought he had seen the worst that humanity had to offer. Still haunted by memories of his combat service in Vietnam, functioning in society is often a chore for him. When he observes the abduction of three young girls from their school bus stop, he is thrust into a position he's not sure he can handle.

Can Jacob subdue his own demons in order to save these innocent lives, or have age and the scars of war left him unable to stop the evil that awaits them?

Viet Nam Vet Does The Right Thing

Jacob A. Hinson thought he had seen the worst that humanity had to offer. Still haunted by memories of his combat service in Vietnam, functioning in society is often a chore for him. When he observes the abduction of three young girls from their school bus stop, he is thrust into a position he's not sure he can handle....But he handles it just fine and saves the day for the 3 young girls. Jacob loves kids, but because all the pedophiles and sicko's out there, he can not react with children like he would like too. He's afraid he will be branded what he despises, if he approaches young kids like he would like too. This is a good short story with a solid story line. I received this audiobook for free from FABC and I am giving my unbiased voluntary review. Oh! and Harry Roger Williams lll does a fine job of narrating

Excellent Short Thriller

I found this short thriller to be a brilliant length and jam packed with compelling action! It's always nice as a change of pace to listen to something as short and tight as 'If I Fail' was. That said, I really prefer my thriller/action content to not be all wrapped up in religion. For me, it's more than enough to find out how the good guy saves the day (no spoilers!) and there is no need for external paranormal questioning (as in, 'was it god's will that the children didn't die?!'). THAT said, though, I do have to say that in the forward there was a bit of a warning about this. I could have easily decided I didn't want to listen to the story when religion was mentioned, but I went ahead anyway. As a result of this fair warning, I will take no stars away for dogma, as the story really was a great listen. Harry Roger Williams III delivers a fantastic performance.

If I Fail

Overall, I enjoyed the story, but the narrator was a bit too "animated" for my taste.

Good short story

The story line is a good one. The main character Jacob is a Vietnam veteran that is suffering from PTSD. (I can understand the struggles as I am married to a Vietnam veteran.) He witnesses the abduction of three girls that he waves at everyday at the bus stop. He isn't sure if he can really help..since it is a short story don't want to spoil the story for anyone The narrator was very good. The girls were lucky Jacob was paying attention!

If I fail: What Doom Awaits the Children by AW Schade was a good, quick listen that focused on Jacob, a retired Marine, whose diligence leads him to notice that the little girls at the bus stop that he always waves to when he drives past in the morning are being abducted. His past training and service in Vietnam allows him to help the girls escape. I don't want to say more because it's a short listen and I don't want to give away spoilers.

Harry Roger Williams III narrated this short story well. His voice was perfect for the character of Jacob and he voiced the other characters well also. I would definitely listen to more of his narrations in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Even as a short story it was too rushed

I think this story-line has a lot of potential, but given the depth of the aspect leading up to and surrounding PTSD among Vietnam vets, this work does it little justice. The plot just seemed to jump around with the sole purpose being to reach the ending. The underlying story and associated pains were never even attempted to be developed. Yes, being a rather short story there are limitations, but I have read and listened to works that have done a better job of pulling it all together in a short period of time. I think the narration was pretty good, as was the story as a whole; just nothing special. The premise for the story is a noble one and could perhaps benefit from some stronger editing. I would recommend this to those that have a strong preference to this genre, but it certainly isn't a listen that most would likely enjoy or find worthy of a credit. If I Fail

A short quick listen that I was interested enough to finish, nothing super exciting though and a few unnecessary and gross points in there. Narration was alright.
