About this listen

Tempest

He’s rude, mean, and looks at me like he hates me. And I’ve only just stepped into his house. Spending a year of travelling through impoverished places, trying to help people, should make handling Sargent Wolf - yes, that’s his name - a piece of cake.

But even Maddox can’t deny that his father is an absolute douche. I’m only here for six months, maximum, before I get my arse back on the road.

I’ll just have to stay out of his way and never suggest that he let me draw him naked. No matter how badly I want to.

Sargent

If I’d known Maddox’s little pest was female, I’d never have agreed to let her stay. The last woman to sleep in my house was my ex-wife.

I can’t live with a woman again and deal with them spreading their things everywhere. Not to mention their scent, tampons, clothes, makeup, and weird reading material. She has to leave, even if it’s me who makes her. Though not at the expense of my son’s respect and love for me.

I can suffer her presence for a few months. I’ve dealt with worse. I just wish she’d wear a goddamn bra once in a while under her little white vests. I’m a tits man, and hers are completely off limits.

Just okay......

3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok so this wasn’t one of A.E. Murphy finest. It wasn’t horrible, but usually I’m so sucked in by A.E. Murphy books that I can’t put them down and this book just didn’t have me doing that..It was actually on the boring side that I skimmed through some pages.

I also didn’t get that electric of the charts chemistry feeling between her characters like I normally do.
One thing I love about A.E. Murphy writing is how she makes you feel what her characters are going through and that even fell flat in this book.

A.E. Murphy did give us her signature arrogant/cocky hero, because Sargent was for-sure a arrogant s.o.b. I liked how he was honest with Tempest about his feelings. Tempest was sassy at first, but at some point in the story that changed and she started getting a little sappy…
I actually was hoping her and Maddox would’ve gotten together and not Sargent. I felt more chemistry between them then I did with Sargent. Which I’m super A.E Murphy didn’t change up the story on her readers with her famous twisted and shocking ending. I was kinda disappointed that she hadn’t.

As for the storyline, like I said it was kinda boring and it just didn’t really keep my interest. I felt like parts that needed more information were rushed and parts that we really didn’t need were dragged out.
Basically the story was them having sex and the hero not wanting to commit.

Audiobook review: As for Keira Stevens I love her narrating and give her a 4 star, but Logan McAllister not so much. This was my first time listening to him and my last..not only does he Narrate horribly, but he sounds like he’s 80 years old! He Definitely was not a good choice for this book.

Opinion is still getting formulated

If I am honest I didn't love this one I've read this author and loved other books, but this just fell a bit short, personally it was not as Taboo as it was advertised. *slight spoilers ahead*

This was an older man younger woman at least she was not a naive girl seduced, she had a past survived. at most as a couple they jump over the hurdle of a man used to bachelors ways, no over drawn drama either, form your own opinion mine is a simple good story but needed something either drama, or action not just the inner monologues of the eternal batchelor.

I liked it

I read the reviews and almost passed this book by. When I first started the MMCs voice did not quite sit right with me, however by the end of the book I wouldn’t have change a thing. The writing was witty and the story was never predictable.

Great Listen!

Father falls for son's female friend. Great story with some action. Narrators are excellent! This is a new author for me but I'm going to see what other stories from her are out there.

The narration was great!

This is my first book by A.E. Murphy. I love May/December books so I was excited to review this. I like the premise of Tempest falling for her best friend's father, and for grumpy set-in-his-ways Sargent to find love with a younger woman. Unfortunately, the execution could use some work. Tempest was a bit of a doormat. Sargent was a jerk and wasn't really redeemed in the book. This also felt like two different books. The first half was a nice take on "sex-only relationship turns into love" and then with no foundation there's bikers, Russian Mafia, FBI, etc. There was also this random stalker that appeared & disappeared with no explanation. The ending was incredibly abrupt as well. It felt like an HFN, not an HEA.

This is my first narration by Keira Stevens & second by Logan McAllister. Their narration is really what made this book enjoyable. Stevens' accents were so smooth that I have no idea which is her native language. McAllister also did an excellent job giving gruff Sargent a voice and his voice for Tempest was still enjoyable. I definitely look forward to hearing more of both of the in the future.

Loved this

I absolutely loved this age gap romance! Tempest just came in and sweeped Sargent’s life upside down.

They both hide their attraction from Maddox but eventually all secrets gets revealed.

There were definitely some things that I didn’t see coming but I absolutely loved it!

I definitely recommend this book!

Strong throughout

Good story & writing, definitely entertaining. The side storylines blend well & neither they nor the sex scenes seem pointless or gratuitous.

Sometimes 2 narrators can seem choppy or disjointed but the performances & editing were solid.

I love a good age gap, and this didn’t disappoint!! This friend’s-dad story also included a twist which was unexpected and actually worked well without muddling the premise. The narration was great! Both did a fantastic job! Definitely recommend!

That Escalated

Wow! This book went from contemporary to holy moley! Really good story but wished there was a better ending.
Narration was overall good but the male narrators voice for Sargent seemed kind of forced.
