About this listen

Now a number one best seller in inspirational romance!

The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old, and we shared a summer beneath the stars.

The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.

We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars...until we both got swept away.

Deep and emotional

I love Kate Stewart! This was another fantastic story by her. I loved that Koti was so relatable. And funny! She was strong but struggled in her own way. And Ian was so terrible at first but you quickly fell in love with him.
I enjoyed their story very much! All the feels!

Made my road trip way more enjoyable:)

Jason & Lila were perfect as Ian & Koti. Their story is truly a journey from friendship to everything in between. No surprise that Kate wrote another awesome book!!

Absolutely wonderful!

This friends to lovers read has so much real life struggle and angst, desire, and truth. Great read! Couldn’t imagine any other narrators, they both nailed it! 10/10 will listen over and over!

Amazing narration and story

So good! Lila Winters was amazing. I felt the emotion coming off her. Jason Clarke was great too but didn’t hear as much as him. The story was engaging, heartfelt, and romantic. Well worth a credit.

As Mesmerizing as the Stars Reflected on the Sea

All the feels. Right here. In a tidy package that will flip your world upside down.
I loved so much about this story line. The epic quality of the relationship between the main characters who had known each other since childhood was endearing. The snappy dialogue throughout the story, as well as the snarky monologue going endlessly through Koti's head offered much-needed comic relief. The sizzle and heartfelt emotional tsunamis that emanated from both Koti and Ian were something akin to watching a natural disaster take place in slow motion: crazy, gut-wrenching, torturous, and fascinating. At times it hurts enough that you don't want to be in that moment, but you just can't turn away--it's just too consuming.
This. This is love.

A memorable journey

This is a combination of love/hate and friends to lovers, and I loved both dynamics. Their childhood nicknames for each other were fun and endearing, and I enjoyed how they were used throughout the story. I also got a kick out of Ian's antagonism when he shows up on the island, and whew was his accent sexy! Speaking of that, I have to mention how impressive the female narrator is with accents. I could always tell which character was speaking. The male narrator didn't bother trying to do Ian's accent, which I think is a good choice if he doesn't have a knack for that. It's better not to butcher it. He has a deep voice, and that's always appealing to me. Ian was just a very sexy character. This author knows how to write a hot guy and hot scenes. I also appreciated his age and that he is most definitely a man. I read a lot of YA and new adult, so this was an exciting change.

I liked Koti well enough until she took it upon herself to foist a puppy on Ian. This was terribly irresponsible, especially when she saw Ian's erratic behavior. He could just as easily have neglected the dog. His annoyed reactions were supposed to be funny and amusing, but I was fuming as much as he was. Pet lovers always think that a pet will make everyone happy, but someone who doesn't want one has the right not to have one. Her claim that he needed the puppy didn't fly with me. If someone did that to me, she'd be on my shit list forever. I never could completely warm up to Koti after that.

Good thing that Ian was a strong enough character to keep me invested in the story. A great love interest makes all the difference for me. His daughter was a terrific character too, and their relationship was wonderful. So many scenes were beautifully written, both emotionally and descriptively. I felt like I did steal away to an island for awhile. There were some real life problems too, so it wasn't just a pie in the sky fantasy. I wasn't clear on their career plans in the end though.

I'm planning to read more from this author.
