Publisher's summary

From Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon bestselling author Winter Renshaw comes a sizzling romance about two people who fall in love, go their separate ways, and then try to reconnect against all odds.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride—and that’s the way I like it.

I may be anti-marriage, but I’m still pro-romance. Case in point? That sexy curmudgeon I met last year during my cousin’s tropical bachelorette getaway.

That grump was Dorian, the groom’s old college roommate, there for the bachelor party. I couldn’t get enough of his messy brown hair and gorgeous turquoise eyes. We connected on a deep level—emotionally and physically.

But the timing wasn’t right. So we made a pact to reconnect in two years. Now I’m starting a new “job.” It’ll take a lot of work and pays really well—I’m talking seven figures here. All I have to do is pretend to be my boss’s new fiancée…and spend eight weeks with his family on their private island. How hard could it be?

Turns out, a lot harder than I thought. Because the man I’m pretending to love? He’s Dorian’s brother, and now all bets are off…

Not very steamy, but a decent story

I really miss the steam meter audible used to have on each romance book. This one would have been on the very low side, right above Sweet. Dorian's family is not likeable at all. I felt the middle kind of dragged on, and the ending seemed rushed.

Although it was definitely not my favorite book, it was by no means the worst I've read. I like this author and will definitely read more of her books.

A light listen

I love a second chance romance and Fake-ish adds in a fake relationship into the mix. This was a light and fun read that even though it touched on some heavier topics, it really did a good job of staying light. I enjoyed how it switched between the past when they met and the present day as Winter reveals both timelines of their relationship. It left me intrigued to see how they went from having it so right but at the wrong time to a year later and everything being so wrong. Their chemistry lingers in every moment they spend together and the whole time I just wished Briar could tell him what was going on.

When they meet in a tropical paradise and bond over their mutual dislike for the institute of marriage, Dorian and Briar had no idea their weekend together would stick with them both long after they returned to their lives, promising to reconnect in two years. When Briar is offered a chance to solve all her financial problems by posing as her boss’s fake fiance, she had no idea visiting his family home on a private island would put her face to face with Dorian and unable to tell him it’s all fake. But secrets don’t stay secrets forever…

I wanted to love this story but I settled on like. In audio, the narrators Stefan Cordova and Kathryn Lynnhurst definitely helped me like the story more by giving voice and life to the characters, but honestly there were a lot of unlikable characters in this story. I honestly only liked Briar and the grandfather, only sometimes liking Dorian. Everyone else I loved to hate and I’m usually a big fan of side characters. I think for me, this took some of the joy out of the story but did make me root even more for Briar and Dorian amd their HEA. Overall, I did enjoy the story and liked the overall premise, but I think there was just something missing for me.

Cute

This was such a cute story and I love a good HEA. The emotional turmoil was well worth it to have a great ending. The performance was phenomenal and exactly how I would have pictured the characters voices.

Right person wrong time

This is a twist on the fake relationship trope. The fake relationship is not between the two main characters.

Dorian and Briar developed strong feelings for each other after spending in a few days together. Right person wrong time. They promised to wait two years and pick up right where they left off.

When Briar’s boss makes her an offer she found impossible to refuse, she finds herself on a beautiful island for 8 weeks with a fake fiancé. She stands to reap $1M. However, the brother of her fake fiancée in none other than Dorian.

The story has past and present scenes. We get the meeting and the beginning of the relationship between Dorian and Briar told along side the present and the drama unfolding on the island. We also get a great epilogue that gives and update on the characters.

Fun story with emotion, drama , angst and heartbreak.

Had me guessing for awhile

I liked narrators for this book.
I thought I had the story figured out, but then thought no, it will take this turn, so I like that it was somewhat predictable but still had me guessing if that makes sense. 😂

Good story, wanted more connection

The story was good, but I would have liked more connecting moments with the main characters on the island. I think the MMC could have tried harder to find out the issue and reconnect. I was also hoping for a little redemption in the siblings. Overall, I was engaged the entire time and the narrators were great.

Fake-ish is a fake relationship book. This book is about Dorian and Briar and is told from both of their points of view.

Briar and Dorian meet when Brian is at her cousin's bachelorette getaway. They promise to wait for each other for two years.

Now Briar is fake engaged to her boss thinking it's to make his father happy. However, she realizes his brother is Dorian whom she's still in love with. Dorian takes it hard that she's engaged to his brother.

There are a ton of secrets and twists and turns in this book. Will Dorian and Briar get their happy ending?

Beautiful story!

Dorian and Briar's story is beautifully written and engaging. This second chance romance is filled with secrets, and twists and turns. The story is told from past to present. This helps to understand Dorian and Briar's past. Stefan Cordova and Kathryn Lynhurst did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Winter Renshaw never disappoints.

Finding the One ♥️💵🎤💙

Dorian and Briar have an instant connection, but it’s not the time in their lives to make a full commitment. So the do the next best thing; commit to reconnect in the future.

What happens next is one of those things that they never could’ve expected to happen. As they struggle to understand how their plan could’ve gone so awry, they also learned things about themselves.

I liked their dynamic, and the family was fascinating. I liked his father and how live connected them. Money is not everything and doesn’t buy happiness. This books emphasizes this point. I enjoyed reading and listening to it. Narrators did a nice job.
