Amber Rose Miles führt ein zufriedenes Leben in London. Sie liebt ihren Job als Reisejournalistin, hat eine tolle Familie und die beste Freundin auf der Welt. Nur ihr Liebesleben kommt trotz Dating-App nicht so richtig in Schwung.
Als eine Kollegin erkrankt, muss Amber kurz vor Weihnachten nach Schottland reisen, um den Bericht für die Neujahrsausgabe fertig zu schreiben. Zu blöd nur, dass sie auf dem Rückweg in einen Schneesturm von epischem Ausmaß gerät und noch dazu eine Autopanne hat.
Nur mit letzter Kraft schafft es die toughe Reporterin in das verschlafene Örtchen Glenshee, wo sie Unterschlupf im Thistle Cottage findet, dessen Besitzer Ewan MacGray zunächst alles andere als begeistert von seinem Gast scheint.
Eigentlich will Amber nur so schnell wie möglich zurück nach London, aber der Schneesturm wütet mit ungebremster Kraft und zwingt sie, zu bleiben. Als wäre das nicht genug, schlittert sie von einer Katastrophe in die nächste, sobald der attraktive Ewan in ihrer Nähe ist und lässt sie wie eine Idiotin dastehen.
Dumm nur, dass ihr Herz schneller klopft, wenn sie ihn sieht...
Ewan MacGray lebt zurückgezogen in Glenshee, wo er eine kleine Pension betreibt. Von Frauen hat er erst einmal die Nase voll, seit seine Freundin ihn verlassen hat.
Als kurz vor Weihnachten plötzlich eine halb erfrorene Engländerin während eines Schneesturms in der Tür steht, glaubt er, seinen Augen nicht zu trauen. Notgedrungen nimmt er sie bei sich auf.
Allerdings hat er nicht damit gerechnet, dass die willensstarke und äußerst hübsche Amber ihm ordentlich einheizt und es mit der idyllischen Ruhe vorbei ist.
Romantisch, warmherzig und humorvoll. Ein Buch zum Träumen in der kalten Jahreszeit.
