About this listen

It started with a girl. One he had seen many months past, and only for a few evenings.

Her father, as it turned out, was a barbaric maniac, straight out of the foulest dungeons of the Middle Ages. Decades into the 21st century, the madman seemed terribly out of place.

Yet he was also a powerful mogul - and determined to turn the life of every man who had ever been romantically involved with his daughter into a particular variant of hell only made possible by the latest VR technology. All 17 of his girl's former lovers would suffer in virtual reality until they snapped.

The torturers had considered every possibility and taken every measure to assure their success. Not even death would offer their victims an escape. No harm would come to their bodies, of course. Only their minds.

For the first 16, the project succeeded. But the 17th was different. The 17th was Dark.

Good start, can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Great start, paranoid antagonist picks a degenerate to exert his wrath against. Lots of torture at first, but then he is able to break the cycle of pain with luck and stubborness. Good book, can't wait for book 2.

meh

hard to follow with such a slow buildup if theres really any. cant say I would recommend it. lots of leveling and grinding. no additional character to deepen the plot. basically its about the mc in solitary confinement. the authors talented though. hopefully the next one adds what this one was missing.

meh

The author not only feels to need to constantly state. The obvious he feels the need to constantly restate the obvious things that have already been brought up. The narrator is so so he doesn't well job of articulating everything but his voice. I find extremely annoying.
If you get it on an audible plus for free, then it's worth the price otherwise not
