About this listen

The world looks different a year after the dead rose from their graves.
Survivors live in walled enclaves while the zombies roam freely in the wasteland. John, Chris, and Erik have made their home in the enclave of Haven and earn their keep in town by scavenging for supplies outside the walls. These excursions bring them face-to-face with grubby urchins, deadly warlords, and hordes of the undead.

But not all threats lie beyond the walls. The dads are beginning to wonder if they can trust the people in charge. Things aren’t looking good and the longer the end of the world drags on, the more danger they’re sure to find themselves in.

Even better than the first book!

Loved this book. It had everything the first book lacked and made the prequel book Dads vs the World look like a steaming pile of boring. really hoping there's a sequel to this one. I would love to see Eric, Chris, and John tried to start their own city.

This book is highly quotable and there are some really great one liners situations.

John, Chris and Eric are at it again

Once again a laugh out loud story from Benjamin Wallace. He has a way of bringing wit and humor to the apocalypse. Phil Thron brings the characters to life with his narration. If you've never read or listened to any of the Dad's vs. books, you really should. I'm not a person to write book reviews because I suck. I just know there are a lot of people who would enjoy Ben's books as much as I have. I love to laugh and even though some may find the humor a little dark or quirky, it's right up my alley. Give it a listen. It may brighten your day and we can use more of those.

This is must!

I kept laughing out loud while reading this. This is a story following John, Erik and Chris and their escapades into the zombie world. If you need a good laugh and a little zombies then you need this book!

So fun!

The character development and the camaraderie. John being the lovable dumbass was perfect in this book. He reminds me of so many people I know.

Name Change

Love the story and Phil. Did anyone else notice that they kept calling John’s wife Christine? That’s not her name and confused me quite a bit. Only once or twice did they call her Jenny. So weird. But the dynamic between these frenemies is just as hilarious as ever.

Who knew John could so that?

John, Eric, and Chris continue to give the world hope after the zombie rise.
Not HOPE, HOPE...but hope that anyone around them wont die, shoot them, or go completely mad just listening to a minute of a conversation between the 3 friends.
I, however, love every second of Benjamin Wallace's stories and HOPE he continues these DAD vs ZOMBIES books for many more adventures.

Phil Thron is perfect in the narration, and the outtakes alone are worth the price of the audiobooks.

LOVE THIS SERIES

Great Series

Instead of a novel, Wallace gives us a bunch of short stories in the vein of Dads vs the World but set in the Zombies universe. I was impressed with the quality of the stories. I don't think it's easy to have that flavor of incompetent wit that marked the first book and still develop serious plotlines and have the characters—especially John—grow.

John is by far the best character in these books. He is a wonderful anti-social grouch who keeps getting tricked by fate into showing he really does care. He has standards and morals and not a pragmatic bone in his body. There are several moments in this book where you will cheer for John in ways the first book in the series really didn't lead me to expect.

Mostly, however, this book is a series about three friends who enjoy cutting on each other even in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. They have moments of great courage, but I think it's their compassion that makes them great men—even if John wouldn't want to admit he had any.
