About this listen

A Space Marine Battles Anthology

Across seven tales, the Black Templars, crusading sons of Rogal Dorn, take on dangerous aliens in infernal regions and wage total war on Armageddon.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a fast-paced collection of blistering Black Templars short stories, gathered together and placed in chronological order for the first time, including a brand-new tale.

THE STORY

For ten millennia, the Black Templars have continued the Great Crusade, remaining true to the Emperor's dream of a galaxy free of the alien, the traitor, and the mutant. One of the few Chapters to venerate the Emperor as a god, they strive always to follow His example and secure His Imperium for all mankind. This anthology brings together seven tales of the sons of Sigismund, including an exploration of High Marshal Helbrecht's first crusade and three stories from the Third War for Armageddon.

Great short stories of Black Templars

The Black Templars are my favorite legion and this is a perfect group of stories to satisfy any Warhammer fan.

Basis played its part. Love this book.

An amazing performance, but even better, was the story told. It shows what you'd expect, but also other sides of Black Templars Space Marines. It shows that some Marines still have a very, very, very small bit of humanity left, and in an even rarer occasion show pity.

Solid but not Ground Breaking

Haley is competent throughout, the stories are interesting enough on their own and actually do a decent enough job of rehabilitation of the Black Templars as meme-fodder for the last decade. In most ways the characters come off as more humanized than many other Space Marine characters. Haley does an adequate job capturing the nuance of the intense piety and nascent humanity of the penultimate warrior monks in a setting built around characters that were tongue-in-cheek warrior monks.

Keeble changes voices again from pre-established characters he performed in earlier works, most notably the seminal Helsreach but still manages his usual nuanced and engaging performance.

Hardly a definitive revelation, but given the setting one can not expect it to be. As a sort of prelude or postscript to Collins' Helbrecht and Dembski-Bowden's Helsreach it works well and would make excellent context interludes for a future Black Templars Compendium.

Praise Be

Excellent if you love 40k and all things Black Templar. Many interesting facets of lore, but some felt as though they deserved an entire novel.

Good collection of stories

This was a nice collection of Black Templar stories, and the organization of the stories into chronological order really makes this almost a novella about one particular Black Templar.

A Reused Story but not a bad collection

One entry in this compilation has a story that I've heard no less than 3 times now from a Space Marine's compilation, another mix of novella and now this. Other than that, It was what one would expect from BTs more or less.
