Interesting Story

Any additional comments?

A great listen and well written story that kept me hooked. The narrator was excellent and really brought the story to life. I don’t usually listen to books in this category, but will be looking for more from this author in the future.

Not for me

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com.

This book was okay. I honestly just don't think it was for me personally. It was well written and the characters were well developed, I just didn't enjoy it very much.

Crimson Gold

It was an enjoyable listen, although repetitive and a little corny at times. The story made it worthwhile.

Possibly.

Which character – as performed by Ben Kass – was your favorite?

Carl Smith.

Do you think Crimson Gold needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Since the book ended with an overview of how the main characters' lives turned out, probably not.

A Short But Engrossing Murder Mystery

I'm a sucker for a good mystery and Crimson Gold has most of the ingredients to make it an engrossing story. I'm not sure, but I think it's based on actual events. It takes place in Alaska before it beacame a state, during its gold rush of the late 1930s. It's in this setting that a violent and gruesome multiple murder occurs. The writing about the time and place are as interesting as the details of the crime and the mystery surrounding it. The length is just right for the story. Too many writers will dilute a good story by overwriting it. Not the case here.

The only problem with the audiobook is the narrator. He tends to read the story instead of telling it, sometimes breaking up sentences in non-grammatical places. But then, when doing voices, he shines.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Crimson Gold if you're in the mood for an excellent true crime murder mystery, but don't want to invest 10-15 hours on one.

I just couldn't get into it, but well written

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Depends on the friend...

What didn’t you like about Ben Kass’s performance?

He does different voices well.

Did Crimson Gold inspire you to do anything?

No. I wanted to like this more than I did. I had higher hopes, but just couldn't get into it.

It felt a bit slow, and just not intense as I thought it would be

I Really Wanted to Like This Story

CRIMSON GOLD was a story I really wanted to like. It started out okay but went down hill for me. The story was redundant and needed editing. I found myself struggling to get through it. It may have been an audio issue. Perhaps book two is an improvement.

BEN KASS seemed to be struggling while reading the story. It wasn't cohesive with author/reader plus the sound was somewhat tinny. I think he has a good voice though.

This is a murder mystery based on a true story. Early on rhe author wanted to be sure the reader knew it was set in Alaska by mentioning it

repeatedly . There were enough twists and turns to keep it interesting.

The narration was okay, characters could of been more defined.

Great murder mystery!

Would you consider the audio edition of Crimson Gold to be better than the print version?

Of course! I think audio books are always better than the print edition because you can feel the emotions so much better.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Crimson Gold?

There were a few, but I would say probably when the first murders took place. It started out as an attention grabber and stayed that way throughout the book.

What about Ben Kass’s performance did you like?

He did all of the different voices very well. I thought it was impressive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! And it's the perfect length to do so.

Any additional comments?

I loved this book and if you love murder mysteries then you will love it too. I highly recommend it!
