About this listen
Tuper is helping find five-year-old Mason, who was presumably taken by his father, but when Mason's father is found unconscious, Mason has disappeared again. In an impossible search during a bitterly cold Montana blizzard, old cowboy Tuper and his hacker friend Lana's quest blurs into one of insanity and murder. As wounded Tuper fights to stay alive in the bitter cold, Lana searches cyberspace and finds someone is working hard to ensure certain secrets remain secret--especially Mason's true identity.

Enjoyable read! Entertaining and fun winter story.
The story was well written and I enjoyed the twists and turns. The fact that a little boy was kidnapped worried me at first, but the author made it more about solving the mystery so that became entertaining. The ending had a nice surprise worked into it. The characters were widely different individuals that also added to the entertainment value. I would have liked to learn more about the main character's background, but perhaps that will come with the next book in the series. This is a nice clean read but the characters do not really express a reliance on faith in God. Perhaps that is considered to appeal to a wider audience. I personally enjoy Christian fiction. The reason I gave the performance 4 stars is that the voice of the side-kick character was so annoying.

Excellent new Teresa Burrell series....
Mason's missing is everything you would expect from a Teresa Burrell book. This book introduces Tuper. He's a PI who basically works for peanuts. He only wants to be paid what his clients can afford.
A child is kidnapped from his school and his mother hires Tuper. She tells him that she is divorced and suspects her ex husband. Tuper can find no marriage certificate, no birth certificate, nothing on this man with the name he uses. Then the ex is murdered. So he begins looking into the mother and ditto, nothing on her either. No birth certificate for the child (Mason). Who are these people ?
Tuper begins an investigation that is so convoluted. He hires a computer hack with secrets of her own, but with absolute dedication. She's also very chatty and adds levity as this tendency for incessant talking ( even to herself) drives him crazy. Tuper also hires JP periodically, he's from the Advocate series (which I recommend that entire series).
As the story continues no one is who they appear but connections between characters are made. This is a great mystery with a very surprising ending.
Narration by John Bell was very good.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Terrific new detective series set in Montana
Would you listen to Mason's Missing again? Why?
Fun for me to read a mystery set in Montana with diversions in Southern California. A series about kidnapped kids interests me and finding this one was gold. Loved the legal details and the chase.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Loved the relationship between an old school rural man and a young urban hacker and how perfect it works in this case. Loved Jerome and JP. My favorite part was the aftermath of the storm and Tuper having to continue the search on horseback.
What does John Bell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
the narrator is fabulous with the voices. He sounds just like Sam Elliott for Tuper!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I savored it over several sessions. I love to listen to books while walking, and this book made me itch to walk more!
Any additional comments?
I recommend Mason’s Missing for anyone who enjoys fast paced mysteries with loads of details of Montana, a wonderful detective to follow in Tuper and a multi-layered story with diverse characters, the search process, and loads of action. I’ll definitely be buying the next Tuper book.

The narrator made this exciting book even better
Another exciting story from Teresa Burrell. I liked the fact the story ended up having a great twist. The characters were multi dimensional and the descriptions were rich (without being too wordy). John Bell does a great job narrating as well...his ability to change voices for each of the characters makes the story come alive. And unlike other narrators....it doesn't feel fake or over done.
I look forward to hearing more novels in this series.

A new series from Teresa Burrell
I am a huge fan of the 8 novel The Advocate series by Teresa Burrell and I hope she will continue it. Mason's Missing is the first novel in her A Tuper Mystery series. The setting is rural Montana in the winter. Tuper is a private detective who picks the cases that interest him and is paid whatever the client can afford. He works with his hacker friend Lena. Five year old Mason is missing and his mother is frantic. There are frequent plot twists that change the perception of the case for Tuper and the listener.
One can never go wrong is selecting a Teresa Burrell novel. Mason's Missing is a suspense mystery while her The Advocate series are legal thrillers dealing mostly with abused children in the legal system. Burrell's most recent 4 books have been narrated by John Bell who does an outstanding job.

Great start to a new series!
I enjoyed this first-in-a-series story about "a crusty cowboy investigator who solves cases using his own set of rules." I loved that Tuper always seemed to 'know a guy' to help him in his investigations. As he begins the search for a young boy, he pairs up with a computer geek and their developing, sometimes humorous, relationship helps keep interest high. The author is adept at keeping the reader guessing with lots of leads and twists and turns in the plot. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series. I was given a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a positive review. John Bell does a great job narrating the story which makes for an entertaining listening experience.

Great start to a new series
Mason’s Missing is the beginning of a new series from Teresa Burrell and one you won’t want to miss. The series revolves around Tuper (Montana cowboy investigator who uses his skills, instincts and people knowledge) and Lana (young computer hacker), and how their relationship develops and helps solve his case. John Bell had me hooked from the start with his interpretation of Tuper. Great start to a new series with an unpredictable ending. Be sure to check out Teresa’s Advocate series, too.
