About this listen

Efrem "Coleslaw" White is a video game tester and college student. He was on a tropical vacation with a diverse group of strangers, classmates, and friends when disaster struck.

The next thing he knew, he was standing before a huge, floating man introducing himself as the god Dolos, and being given a second chance at life. There was a catch, though. There is always a catch.

Now Cole will need to convince all the people he's trapped with that violence is not the answer, suggesting that they all to work together to endure their death game. If he fails, he'll have to figure out how to survive on a deadly island with a shrinking, burning energy dome overhead.

Cole's MMA training and video game knowledge doesn't seem like much to rely on against mutated monsters and psychopaths with supernatural powers. If the island becomes a war of survival like he fears, he's going to have several very serious problems to deal with...fast.

Ok this short story was good. Loved how the author explain why he wrote this and gave a brief overview on what it would be about. Sad that’s it’s over tho!

Nice short story!

i went in to this thinking this was a BC book (which is entirely on me), so I was a little disappointed and confused by the writing style and such...
however this IS a entertaining book and I did learn to enjoy it despite the bad start which should tell you something about what Outspan and Blaise have put together and it's quality...

Ryan does a great job with the narration and several times I even forgot there were a narrator and just zoned in on the start...

not a Blaise Corvin book

Long time listener and reader, first time reviewer. I really liked this book, it's a great addition to the Delvers LLC universe and a nice self contained story, but I am excited to see where it might go from here. Loved how it explored the characters motivations and unique uses of their power sets.

Great Addition to the Delvers LLC Universe

it was good overall but I don't know how it connects to a different world. authors play with some interesting concepts the book is just missing some depth.

okay

I really have a quandary in regards to this book. The writing is excellent and I love the characters and the characterization. But it is a brutal book! Things happen to the main characters that are just hard to take. It was a good book but I really can’t say that I enjoyed it. Also I tend to go back to books I don’t see myself returning to this book.
The narration was excellent. I will listen to a 2nd book but I something more positive than only one survivor.

A Very Interesting Book.

Battle royal is a tricky subject, but this was done alright. the Dolos tie in is a little loose, but it works as an introduction to Coleslaw. I'll buy the next one's in this storyline, if that means anything.

A bit different

A story about a battle royale situation should be much more poignant and disturbing then this, but I could accept that if the progression was more part of conflict resolution. instead the story is mostly resolved through group dynamics and game strategy. this seems to be more game with than it is litrpg but it came up when searching litrpg so I have to judge it by how it was marketed. Also for such large groups it is amazing that they found so many psychopaths and people who are emotionally adaptable enough to not become victims. Basically, I found myself not believing it and thus not enjoying it.

Light on Progression

For the love of The Great God Dolos learn how to say tsunami. It is not pronounced toonami. Even the western sunami would have been better FOR THE LOVE OF CRAP!

Say it right!

the story is good and action well written, but some of the characters fall flat. and the whole story predicts itself and repeats the predictions over and over again. might have been better as the short story it started as.

good if a little predictable
