About this listen

City of Bones Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

On New Year's Day, a dog finds a bone in the Hollywood Hills - and unearths a murder committed more than 20 years earlier. It's a cold case, but for Detective Harry Bosch, it stirs up memories of his childhood as an orphan. He can't let it go. As the investigation takes Bosch deeper into the past, a beautiful rookie cop brings him alive in the present. No official warning can break them apart - or prepare Bosch for the explosions when the case takes a few hard turns. Suddenly all of LA is in an uproar, and Bosch, fighting to keep control, is driven to the brink of an unimaginable decision.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

The story, the voices are great. The background music is horrendously bad!!

Horrible background music!! Everything else is great. His books are great and I love listening to them when I work, clean or garden. This is the first time i’ve heard constant background music and it is awful. It’s very distracting and really just needs to be done out. I wish it were on two channels so that I could get rid of it.

Republished with Music

This was advertised as a new release for 2/21. This is an old book they republished with terrible and distracting background music. If you want to listen to this book download the old version. Background music is irritating and distracting.

Drop the music

I enjoyed this book. I’ve read every or almost every book written by Connelly. The one issue on the Audible verso was the background soundtrack. I looked forward to listening to this because I know the author is a serious jazz aficionado but the music is pretty insipid. I’d suggest reading the print or Kindle version because it’s a great story.

Well written as always

Another well written book by Michael Connelly. The story was detailed, descriptive, exciting, and interesting. I wasn’t a huge fan of the narration but it wasn’t as annoying and distracting as the background noise. This addition didn’t bring anything to the story telling.

ENJOYABLE, INTELLIGENT & ENTERTAINING!

This is my first Michael Connelly book. I love whodunnits! I really picked a winner with this one. Peter J. Fernandez is now one of my favorite narrators. This book was a smooth listen because of Fernandez’ excellent portrayal of Detective Harry. The “musical/sound effects called “Booktrack Edition” was very distracting for me & really added nothing to the storyline or performance. I could have done without it. This books storyline & characters were woven together so nicely. I listened to it STRAIGHT THROUGH! Forget meals, forget housework, I couldn’t pull myself away from this one. The main character, Harry, became almost a real person in my imagination & I found him so likable that I will miss him. He is a law officer with true integrity. This is a really good listen & time well spent. It was worth a credit. I will listen to it again someday. This book is Five Star Worthy. Great writing, great narration & a perfect escape from my mundane life!

Distracted by background music.

Don't need distracting dramatic background accompaniment. Let my imagination do the work. Makes it personally mine.

Very good story, lots of misdirection in this one. I liked the ending most of all.

A very good Bosch

Took me a minute to get used to the narrator, but it's a good story!

Was it Harry or Alex?

Loved the book! Although I enjoyed Peter's narration I felt cheated. It felt like an Alex Cross story.
