Detective Lara Mendes's hard work finally pays off when she gets the chance to join the homicide detail. There's only one catch; she has to partner up with a cop no one wants to work with.
John Gallagher is a veteran homicide detective who loves stomping bad guys and hates partners. When the Lieutenant saddles him with this green kid named Mendes, his first reaction is to ditch her but a call comes in about a body on the river bank and the rotation says they're up.
What they find are human remains, mutilated and partially devoured. Their investigation reveals a killer stalking the city with a pack of vicious, feral dogs. And the suspect believes he is a werewolf.

This was a pretty good book. I would've loved for there to have been more werewolf action, but the action I got was good. I thought it was interesting that a pack of dogs followed the wolf. I will be checking out the rest of the series.

What a rush !
Would you consider the audio edition of Bad Wolf to be better than the print version?
I have not read the book, but I am going to purchase the rest of the series. I prefer audio books because of eyesight issues, but I look forward to reading more of this one.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Oh boy did it. The perfect combo of supernatural and horror, with a bit of teddy bear thrown in. The dogs were terrifying, and the wolf is straight out of your nightmares.
What three words best describe Bob Barton’s voice?
Sort of monotonous
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I tried, but couldn't. I could not get the story out of my head though. Hard to wait for what would happen next.

Even though I received this audio book free in exchange for writing a truthful review, I would have purchased it anyway. The author is an exceptional writer. Loved Laura and Galliger. He is the perfect bad cop/ teddy bear, she's the good cop/tough guy. Their work relationship was an interesting mix. I look forward to new adventures. And more edge of the seat thrillers from this author.

Super Entertaining and Thrilling

A very good and entertaining listen. The narrator nailed it and had the perfect tone and cadence for this type of story.
My first Tim McGregor story, but definitely not my last. The characters were fleshed out well and I particularly enjoyed the relationship with Gallagher, his daughter and Mendes and thought it gave the story additional depth and color. The action and tension built steadily to a satisfying conclusion (and yes it did kind of leave you hanging for the second installment). Overall, this one was very well done and look forward to the second and third in the series.
A solidly written and entertaining werewolf novel with plenty of likeable characters (and plenty of unlikable ones as well). 4.5+ Stars

Where Wolf? There Wolf.
What did you like best about Bad Wolf? What did you like least?
I liked the characters the most. Gallagher and Mendez were deep with multiple layers and even the ancillary characters were given enough personality to remain intriguing.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I thought it was really interesting how the wolf managed to keep adding to his pack and kept a disparate group under his control throughout.
What does Bob Barton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He gives everyone extra character that, while written in, would be lost if only reading it. He also manages to give them all the respect they demand in writing.
Do you think Bad Wolf needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It definitely does, because there's a cliff-hanger and everyone needs closure once in a while.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. I really appreciated the police and character focused sides of this story moreso than the overarching plot. It's a pretty good story, there were just parts about it that took me out of it mentally.

Not your usual murder thriller
I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I really enjoyed listening to this book because the main character, Gallagher, is a grumpy but lovable guy. This story keep me guessing and I am really ready to listen to the next book.
The Reader was amazing! Lived his voice and made a good story even better.

Fair. Aimed at young adults IMHO.
Not spectacular or earth shattering. A bit predictable but still yet enjoyable to a degree. I purchased this book thinking it would be a new twist on an old theme (akin to Brian Lumley's Necroscope series with a bit of noir detective thrown in) but no such luck. I finished however even if it took several sessions. Read quickly it may be more enjoyable.
