Publisher's summary

Mercy Thompson is a shapeshifter, and while she was raised by werewolves, she can never be one of them, especially after the pack ran her off for having a forbidden love affair. So she’s turned her talent for fixing cars into a business and now runs a one-woman mechanic shop in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State.

But Mercy’s two worlds are colliding. A half-starved teenage boy arrives at her shop looking for work, only to reveal that he’s a newly changed werewolf—on the run and desperately trying to control his animal instincts. Mercy asks her neighbor Adam Hauptman, the Alpha of the local werewolf pack, for assistance.

But Mercy’s act of kindness has unexpected consequences that leave her no choice but to seek help from those she once considered family—the werewolves who abandoned her...

I loved it.

I really enjoy getting to know Mercy Thompson, and the people who are going to be a part of her world. I can’t wait for more.
I know there is so much more to be discovered and I am ready to go exploring. The voice actors of course did a fantastic job as always. 150% fantastic job by all of them.

Best Performance

This is a much better performance than the single person narration. I have enjoyed these books for years and was frustrated with the audiobook versions but I was impressed with the performances and enjoyed listening. I really hope more of the Mercy Thompson series get this treatment. Well worth the purchase.

Great adaptation

I am a big fan of Graphic Audio and they did not disappoint. I was a little uncertain about Mercy and Adam's voices but they settled into my brain and worked well after that. I enjoyed the rest of the cast. The only part that I did not care for was a scene when Mercy's ears were ringing. There was a ringing in the background that seemed to grow in intensity to the point where I had to pull my headphones off my ears because it was like nails on the chalkboard to my nervous system. Beyond that it was a very enjoyable adaptation.

Where's the humor!?

I love this series, it is one of my comfort series that feels like home and i have read countless times. Im also a big fan of graphic audio but they left out so much of Mercys humor and wit that is written in the books. I understand that some things get lost in the adaptation but her sass is part of what makes her bada$$! Please, please fix this in the next book! Also, Stefans voice should at least have a slight Italian accent and wolves dont really bark, so ...

New Voices

As new books have been added, I have listened and re-listened to the Mercy Thompson audiobook series, read by Lorelei King, numerous times over the year. King really captures Mercy's voice in how the character sees and interacts within her world. The Dramatized Adaptation cast here did a good performance but some choices were unexpected. Mercy had less humor than how the book reads. Bran older. Adam more growly/angry. I was surprised that Stefan presented with an American accent. Even when I read the books he always had an European accent in my head. But, hey, that's a 'me' thing. The story is still great. Overall, it's a fun, new way to experience a favorite.

Another excellent rendition

This book is one of my favorite books and series. This is a new and exciting version of the story. The sound effects were great, and it was nice to hear new renditions of the characters. I hope they will be doing this for the Alpha and Omega series as well. Looking forward to Blood Bound (Book 2).

good just different

I just have to say I loved it, but some of the characters voices just didn't sound right. Stephan's for example, he is not American. Zee sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger. And Bran to old!! Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Fantastic!

This has been one of my favorite fantasy books for a long time. The GraphicAudio narration just brings it to another level. Highly recommend!!

A different way to listen to audiobooks

Ok, I’m a long time listener to audiobooks. I have read, listened and enjoyed the Mercy Thompson series for years. I enjoy when the narrator does different voices for different characters. This format has different people voicing characters although for the minor roles I think some were double or triple roles for the same person. I had to slow the recording down to .9 of the original as I thought Mercy’s narration was too fast. I was also disappointed that Stephan had an American accent and not the Italian one that Lorelei King uses. The addition audio effects were interesting, I can understand the car noises, doors opening and closing, people walking etc… those type of noises enhanced the listening. But the sound effect when a character was smelling something was weird and distracting. I did enjoy the underlying music, it did enhance my listening experience.

The main female character did an excellent portrayal in my opinion.

Overall it was great. Patricia Briggs always writes amazing stories, and GraphicAudio always gives amazing performances. I just have a tiny bit of constructive criticism. it seems like there were parts of the narrative that were cut out for some reason. I know that certain things that can be done with sound or phrases like he said she said get cut out, but I mean actual conversation. maybe it was an accident and can be fixed. Also I feel like the person portraying the MMC (Adam), should do a bit of research on the character. he seemed to pick up his character towards the end, but for the first while I was wondering why he was picked for the role.
