About this listen

The Scandal is an all-new marriage of convenience, age-gap novel from New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby, set in her Single in Seattle Series, featuring Stella McKenna!

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn’t when I agreed to marry my coworker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT.

Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can’t take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date…and more. So much more!

The conversation between us is good, and the man should win awards for his bedroom escapades. I find myself trusting him in ways I never thought I would—until he breaks that trust.

Gray insists he can fix it.

He claims he loves me.

But I don’t know if we can survive this.

The Scandal

I had the book on my TBR since before it even had a title. When Kristen Proby announced the second generation of the With Me In Seattle characters, I knew the one I wanted to read. Nate’s daughter. I loved Nate and Jules, so I knew their daughter’s book would probably end up being my favorite and so far I am right. Stella meets Grayson because she needs a quick divorce from her best friend because neither of them realized the fake wedding they had in Vegas was real, and his soon to be husband isn’t happy. All through the book I was waiting for Nate to meet Grayson, and when it happened I was not disappointed!

I love returning to the Seattle Universe!

Stella & Grey were absolutely everything!!
Normally, I'm not a huge fan of next generation books, but when this series kicked off, I couldn't resist returning to Kristen Proby's Seattle universe and now I cannot get enough! Returning to these characters, albeit years later, is just like coming home and I'm totally here for it!!

Great story

Wow I don’t even know where to start with this review. I absolutely loved this book. I now think Stella is one of my favorite heroins. I loved absolutely everything about her from her independence to her sass to her wit and charm and to her huge heart. And as strong and as independent as she was, she was absolutely beautiful in her moments of vulnerability.
Gray, oh yes hot, sexy alpha Gray and an attorney on top of it!
I loved the narrators on this one, I always love going back to the Montgomery family not to mention spending some time with Nate and Jules. This was classic KP and a 5 star read for me!

OBSESSED

This Single in Seattle series just keeps getting better and better! I seriously can’t get enough! And I obsessed seeing the OG characters throughout.

The Scandal is Stella and Gray. I freaking love Stella!!! So much of Jules in her from her strong and sassy personality, to her fierce protectiveness of her family. Grayson is just swoon 😍 an alpha Viking with an age gap. I’m done!

Kristen Proby has absolutely nailed this second gen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love Stella & Gray

I loved, loved, loved Stella and Gray! The Scandal is the second book in the Single In Seattle series from Kristen Proby which is a spin off from the With Me In Seattle series. It’s all about the kids of the original characters now and reading the series is like having a catch up with old friends.

The story is funny and sweet with a nice dose of hot and spicy. There is a slight age gap between Stella and Gray which causes some disapproval from Stella’s father, but he soon realizes that Gray cares for Stella very much. There are plenty of fun side characters and conflicts between Stella and Gray are resolved fairly quickly.

It’s so great to catch up with the Montgomery clan and to find out what the next generation is doing to make their mark in the world. I’m really enjoying this new series and excellent narration with this new story.

Fun and easy listen

This is another book in the series that follows the next generation of the "With Me in Seattle" characters. An age gap, Vegas wedding gone wrong, insta-love story sounds like tropes that might not go together, but Kristen Proby weaves a romantic tale with plenty of heat and not too much drama into an easy and pleasant weekend listen. You will definitely recognize many of the side characters from previous books and enjoy revisiting the goings on in this huge family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and spouses, but it is not necessary to have ready any of them to enjoy this book on its own.

Choose a better male narrator to match the character

The man narrator… not to be mean, but he didn’t match the character and was way to acting.

Instalove and age gap romance

The Scandal is the second book in the Single in Seattle in series which is the second generation of the "with me in Seattle" characters. You know when you fall in love with characters and a family and you just want more? That's what this is and we are getting more and more from the kids.

The kids are all grown up and living their lives. They are in their twenties and all successful in their own rights, but sometimes you just make a wee bit of a mistake while drinking in Vegas with you BFFs and that brings you to your HEA in a roundabout way. That is Stella's story and she's sticking to it!

I’m not always a fan of instalove, but can appreciate it. But I did enjoy it here with the older Grayson and younger Stella. Stella is a spitfire and balanced out Grayson. They both love their family fiercely and I liked that connection for them. I liked the group mentality we have going on amongst the friends/family and the way they all fight for one another. I also liked how Grayson and Stella went to bat when the other needed it, but it seemed kind of weird after only a week of knowing one another. I suppose if you know, you know.

I listened to the audio and thought the narrators portrayed the characters in a believable way, but I imagined a different voice for Grayson. Lance Greenfield just didn't 100% sell me, although I wasn't the biggest fan, I was still entertained by him and it didn't take me out of the story. Emma Wilder, on the the other hand, totally brought Stella to life. She became her character and I enjoyed her performance.

Overall, a quick listen that was all about the instalove. If that's your jam, I think you will enjoy this one. And if you liked the "With Me in Seattle" series, it's nice to revisit our original couples and their kids.
