About this listen

ASSISTANT WANTED: Notorious, high-ranking villain seeks loyal, levelheaded assistant for unspecified office duties, supporting staff for random mayhem, terror, and other Dark Things In General. Discretion a must. Excellent benefits.

With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer—naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie.

But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind. Because something rotten is growing in the kingdom of Rennedawn, and someone wants to take the Villain—and his entire nefarious empire—out.

Now Evie must not only resist drooling over her boss but also figure out exactly who is sabotaging his work . . . and ensure he makes them pay.

After all, a good job is hard to find.

Contains mature themes.

Fun story, didn't love the narrator

The story was fun, ending in a cliffhanger. I did enjoy the twists and development. The narrator had some very strange pauses and emphasis that made it difficult to stay in the story. I can usually get used to narrators, but I never really got used to this one.

Great story, horrible narration

I didn’t believe the reviews so I opted to get this in audiobook. The narrator is awful. She pauses at weird places and emphasizes the wrong words. I stopped about 1/3 of the way through and bought the book to read. I am half convinced this was read by really bad AI. I wish I could get my money back on this one.

Amazing story, but the narrator could use some work.

This is an amazing book! I could hardly put it down! I cannot wait for the next one.

My only qualm is how robotic the narrator can be. Some parts even sounded AI with the lack of emotion. She has great potential, but she needs some work.

Great story

Loved the story! Unfortunately the narrator was not my vibe. It took me some time to get past her voice, but overall I enjoyed the performance.

YOU NEED TO READ IY ASAP!

Assessment to the Villain! is amazing 5 out of 5 stars! When I read the synopsis this book gave me everything I have been wanting to read right now! Every single time I picture the Villain in the book I think of the tiktoker Danny from @dannyphantom.exe from his Hero X Villain series as the villain! i need the sequel now because of this cliffhanger at the end of the book! The narrator of this book was amazing!

Enjoyed it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 Stars

I originally added this to my TBR based on the fact that one of my favorite bookstagrammers was reading it. When she finished she didn’t rate it very high. I was nervous. However, I found it delightful. If you like Once Upon a Time and the Office you will enjoy this. It’s very dry humor (which I happen to enjoy). I wish there was a little more on the romance side, but there is a sequel!

Cute and funny

I really enjoyed this book. My usual books are psychological mysteries, but I listened to this book knowing it was going to be different.

Besides being a cute love story, it’s also a mystery. It had a pretty good plot twist I did NOT expect. An I’m a sucker for a good surprise. It also had a bit of humor.

I definitely suggest this if you’re into mysteries but want a break from the more serious stuff.

I’m not sure who this book is for…

It’s not bad. It’s just I’m not really sure who would love it. It’s not heavy on the romance in my opinion. There is pining, but not like fanfiction levels. No spice. And I was expecting a fun time more along the lines of Dr. Horrible, but it’s not really fun. Also, for being in a sorta medieval setting it’s a lot more office/work place focused than I thought it was. The narration was just okay. I don’t know. I won’t be reading the second one when it comes out.
