About this listen

Akira Hamada is driven by past failure. Two years earlier, she had a chance to kill her greatest enemy - Kaito Mitsui. Instead, the Yakuza boss forced her to become an assassin in his employ. Now, Akira carries out the bloody business of the notorious crime syndicate and hates herself more each day.

When Mitsui hears that his sister’s murderer will be on the cruise ship Starfish, he immediately tasks Akira with eliminating the man once and for all. This is what Akira has trained for, but a series of strange events on the ship tests her resolve and shows her a way to redemption.

Devon Lyons, on the other hand, has nothing to do with assassins. He’s merely accompanying his aunt and uncle, Sara and Paul Lyons, on a free cruise.

Little does he know that the two are the true targets of the charming Japanese tourist he has just met! Akira knows that either Sara or Paul is the killer but doesn’t know which one. She hopes seducing the handsome Devon will lead to better intel, but she is surprised to find herself trusting him. And soon, the pair finds themselves fighting for their lives on the high seas.

Padded Story Line

Would you try another book from Kaylin McFarren and/or Natalie Naudus?

Not Sure, The were elements that seemed to keep my attention. The story felt over-written at times.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kaylin McFarren again?

A Very Interesting Cast of Characters

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was the first audiobook I listened to in this series and even though I'm sure it would have been easier to follow from the beginning if I had the opportunity of listening to the previous books, I was still able to get into the current plot and to learn the history on each main character. The writing was really good as was the narration.
It is a love story that flourishes in spite of violence, murder, and deceit. One scene that I don't think was that necessary to the plot but probably added for spiciness, was the rape of the male character by the evil mastermind. Just seemed forced into the context. Everything else was truly interesting and never dull.

Another good book in this series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Somehow, I missed book 3, but these each seem to stand alone pretty well. I did notice yet another narrator for this book. The ever changing narrators is, apparently, done purposefully to make each book stand alone more and offer different experiences for each book. At least that is how the author explained it when I emailed her and asked. :) I think knowing the narrator changes are on purpose may have even helped get prevent it from being a distraction. Anyway, for what it was, I did enjoy the book.

Both funny and full of suspense...

A great audiobook, very nicely narrated by Natalie Naudus.

The story itself was both funny and thrilling to me. Funny because it is hilarious when three assassins sit next to each other during supper on a cruise ship and try to ,act normal' while you know they want each other deadly. Thrilling it was because there are unexpected twists and turns and it is just a great story and you want to know how it continues.

I had great fun listening to the book and I can recommend it.

Hot and explosive story!

What did you love best about Twisted Threads?

The relationship between Akira and Devon was intense and left you wondering if they would end up together or not, especially with so many secrets between them.

What other book might you compare Twisted Threads to and why?

It has the romantic sizzle of a Lucy Leroux book, intrigue of a Lisa Jackson murder-mystery and a collection of interesting, twisted characters reminiscent of an Agatha Christie novel. No single book compares.

What about Natalie Naudus’s performance did you like?

Loved her voice and the emotion she evoked.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Simply loved it.

Exceptional!!

Wow!!! I was amazed with this book with all of the twists and turns it it had. I have recently discovered this author and think she is greatly talented. The story she weaves is full of many twists and turns with everyday people from different cultures. I loved this story and thought the narration was spot on. This book is number 4 in the series and has characters from book 2 returning. It is a standalone listen. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. i will definitely look for more books by this talented author and narrator in the future.

More of the same...

The narrators voice is much more pleasant than the previous narrators, but still strange intonation and pacing. Lots of action, plot twists and romance, like the last 3 books…
This book was more of the same and I did have parts I liked, all in all it was OK but not WOW.

It was ok.

Narration was alright. The story held my attention in some places and I fell away in others. Thought this would be right in my wheel house but just couldn't get into like I wanted.
