Acerca de esta escucha

Mourning the death of his father and gravely injured at the hands of the English, Jamie Fraser finds himself running with a band of mercenaries in the French countryside, where he reconnects with his old friend, Ian Murray. Both are nursing wounds, both have good reason to stay out of Scotland, and both are still virgins despite several opportunities to remedy that deplorable situation with ladies of easy virtue.

But Jamie's love life becomes infinitely more complicated - and dangerous - when fate brings the young men into the service of Dr. Hasdi, a Jewish gentleman who hires them to escort two priceless treasures to Paris. One is an old Torah; the other is the doctor's beautiful daughter, Rebekah, destined for an arranged marriage. Both Jamie and Ian are instantly drawn to the bride-to-be - but they might be more cautious if they had any idea who they're truly dealing with.

I'm a huge Outlander fan but this story was not the best. It was very boring compared to the other stories written by Diana Galaldon.

Not the best

Narrator was excellent. The story fell short. Expected some of the gaps to be filled in leading up to Outlander book 1.

Too short

I am an old Outlander fan and I, too, like Davina Porter's earlier audible books. But I like this narrator as well. He brought a new voice to our favorite characters. Well done, sir. Oh and also the story is great!

Great narrator and short story

The story didn't seem plausible to me.
It might have played differently in my mind had Davina Porter narrated the book. She has read all of the other ones so I'm expecting her voice for Jamie and Ian's. I was not impressed by this narrator.

Disappointed

This was a very good book and I enjoyed listening to it very much. Get it!

Great

This is my first audible book and I’ve read this book previously. I loved the story when I read it of 2 innocent, awkward young men trying to navigate their lust and honor. It was funny and touching at the same time. I did not sense any of that come through the narrator who read the words without any emotion behind them at all. Without it, the story fell flat.

Skip this one and read the book

The story itself was good, the narrator, however, was not! Hard to follow with his monotone voice.

Ok..

What made the experience of listening to Virgins the most enjoyable?

I truly enjoyed Diana Gabaldon's capacity to put together a wonderful swashbuckling story.

What other book might you compare Virgins to and why?

I would compare it to the the Lord John Grey series, which also have intriguing swoshbuckling plots.

What about Allan Scott-Douglas’s performance did you like?

I loved his natural Scots accent, which gave an authenticity to the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A story of young Scottish mercenaries in France.

French mercenaries seeking loss of virginity

Its quite delightful to hear how Jaime and Ian see the jewish religion . It was a view of how jewish life was seen in the 1700s in Scotland. IVery nicely written. Great descriptions. Really enjoyed it.
