This is our first installment of our ongoing Student Series. Izzy Lampre, a MSAT student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison reached out (Thank You) to share her story of becoming an athletic trainer. It was a highly unique story and it was awesome to get to hear it.

Izzy came from Australia to swim for the Badgers and in the process had amazing interactions with her athletic trainer and as she worked with them, she discovered what the profession was and that it might be a part of her future. She decided to apply for the MSAT and is graduating this spring. In addition to her school work she is also serving on the NATA Student Leadership committee and getting involved in service. Izzy has a great story and we hope you enjoy it.

Rob Dicks does just a little bit of about everything. Not only does Rob wear multiple hats as an athletic trainer, he goes beyond that with administrative duties, community volunteering and his mentorship.In this episode we talk about two major topics that all athletic trainers probably have a connection to. The first one is mentoring and mentorship. Rob has a unique place in his mentorship roles and how many people that he provides a listening ear to and guidance when they need it. Allen reached out to us and wanted to share his experiences in the expansion of the athletic training profession and how many avenues our skillset can take us to make an impact on patients lives.

Allen has done so much in his career from working in collegiate and professional sports, to the industrial setting and now in the workers compensation world of healthcare. He shares what he has learned along the way and how the has found new avenues to increase his skillset and ultimately his value when it comes to patient care and utilizing a variety of skills across the profession.

This is the second episode featuring the ATPPS. In this episode, we talk to Tara Saprano and Aaron Hajart who are an integral part of the educational aspect of ATPPS. Aaron talks more in-depth about the annual meeting and all the aspects of planning educational material, getting feedback on what people want to learn, and making sure the material is staying as current as possible. Tara discusses the focus on education, year-round and what ATPPS has done to continue to make sure that members stay engaged and have opportunities to learn throughout the year.

They also highlight a new certification that has gone live as of this recording that focuses on DME and discuss how this is the first step in plans to continue to provide more value to members. If you want more insight into the educational aspect of ATPPS, this episode covers it all.
