About this listen

Out of the ashes of disaster, survivors rise.

As the United States collapses, safety in the town of Deadwood, South Dakota, becomes paramount. When the Sheridan family heads to the largest survival community on earth with the promise of refuge, they soon discover the cost.

Meanwhile, back in Spearfish, as a new threat looms on the horizon, FEMA coordinator Elena Cassidy seeks the help of Magnus. But an unsuspecting attack by an old adversary forces them to question if safety exists as they wage war closer to home.

When Survivors Rise is the fifth book in the After It Turns Dark series. This high-octane post-apocalyptic thriller with flawed characters explores the world after an electromagnetic pulse knocks out power when society needs it the most. No lights. No phones. No transportation. This captivating family saga reveals what desperate people could be driven to do to survive at the worst time.

The War at Home

The Sheridan family story continues in this 5th book. Events continue to spiral out of control with the invasion of the United States. Closer to home the Sheridans fight criminals and power hungry petty rulers. I enjoyed this book and am interested in where it will go in future releases.

When Survivors Rise

Another good entry into the series. The pacing felt better than in the last book, and there were some interesting new characters introduced. The action was good, and overall, it was a satisfying read.

Great story

The post EMV story was interesting and could be read as real — who knows what the future holds. The narrator did a great job in switching between characters and descriptive tone. That you

The Sheridans In Peril Again

I didn’t hate it, but I’ve found other post-EMP offerings to be more satisfying. Maybe I’ve read too many PA books. Hunt seems to have thrown in all the PA tropes here, but, disappointingly, not in any intriguing new way. Some predictability is inevitable in any popular genre, but there’s nothing surprising here. A few of the plot points snapped my suspension of disbelief thoroughly.

Miles Meili is my choice for narrator of the apocalypse. Great performance, as always.
