About this listen

People you shouldn’t fall in love with:

  • Your best friend’s sister.
  • Your best friend’s pregnant sister.
  • Your best friend’s sister after you deliver her baby.
  • Your best friend’s sister when she’s an exhausted, overwhelmed new mother who has to deal with her crazy baby daddy and meddling townspeople

But rules were meant to be broken.

Full moons and fate have a way of pushing people together when they least expect it.

When Beth Hale called 911 when she was in labor, the last person she thought would show up was her brother’s best friend.

Now, he’s the only person she trusts.

Former Navy SEAL Shane Hutchins has demons of his own. Reinventing himself as a small town paramedic was supposed to be his atonement for the things he had done. Falling in love with a single mom wasn’t in his plan, but now he’d do anything for her and the baby girl he calls “his.”

Even if it means putting his life on the line.

📖: If I thought I liked This Heals Us... well What Saves Us is definitely my favorite!! What a beautiful story! Shane & Beth melted my heart with their love story!

Not his baby, Army Vet, Brother's Best Friend... all the best things 🥹🫠 The spice & story were perfectly balanced! I'm obsessed with them! And the bonus epilogue is EVERYTHING!!!!

🎧: I devoured this audiobook!! I LOVE both narrators so much & as far as dual audiobooks go, this is TOP TIER!! Definitely worth the listen!!

Such life was brought to characters I already knew and loved.

I love this book, but it as an audio was like reading it for the first time again. Please check your trigger warnings because some of this book contains major triggers for people. Whether you read it or listen to it, this book is phenomenal.

Shane and Beth!!

What Saves Us is book #3 in the Falls Creek series. This story has it all...it is funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, suspenseful, spicy in a slow burny kind of way and binge-worthy! Beth is pregnant by her professor (didn't know he was married) and is doing the whole pregnancy thing on her own. Shane is her brother's best friend and has been in love with Beth since he laid eyes on her (a year ago). She has trust issues with men now and is dealing with postpartum depression. He has PTSD from being a former Navy Seal sniper, is sober from an alcohol addiction, and is the paramedic who comes to her 911 call and delivers her baby! I love all the "Creekers" in this series...the ladies who rate the hot first responders as they work out, the ladies auxiliary that works behind the scenes to play matchmaker.
I absolutely loved it.

The narration was phenomenal. Sebastian York and Emma Wilder are the perfect broody Shane and hormonal Beth. He's the yin to her yang! 5 heartfelt stars!!

Such a great book!

Deserves so much more than 5 stars. Shane and Beth, wow their story will have you feeling all kinds of ways. I know a lot of people didn’t like when he called her “mama” but I adored it. Their story is heavy hitting with Shane’s PTSD and Beth’s postpartum. But what is wonderful is how live come overcome so many obstacles. I swooned over Shane, he was the only one that truly saw Beth. Amazing Maggie! Well done. This audiobook was narrated by Sebastian York and Emma Wilder. I couldn’t think of any one better than these two. They captured all the emotion that was in this book. I love when the narration is so good you feel you are in the story. Absolutely loved this audiobook. Thank you Maggie C. Gates and Blue Nose audio for this ALC.

Excellent Story & Listen🎧 Compelling & Heartfelt!

Maggie Gates pens another amazing novel set in her fabulous “Falls Creek” series, and I would like to say she saved the best for last, but that would not be fair to the first two books, which are just as amazing. This book is Beth Hale and Shane Hutchins’ story and I was looking forward to learning more about them since meeting them in the second book “What Heals Us” and wow, it blew me away completely. I loved the depth and complexity of these characters and all the layers of their story, and Gates takes you alongside them as she peels back their layers to reveal everything they are going through and been through. You could feel how much heart she put into this story as the emotions pour off the pages and straight into your heart. Beth’s due date was two weeks away, but the baby had other plans and luckily Shane was on duty and responded to her call, because it was not the easiest of births. Nothing like her brother’s friend seeing your lady bits, but she figured so many have seen them since her pregnancy. Shane was amazing with her, as an EMT and a friend, comforting her and giving her the care she needed, then rushing her and her newborn to the emergency room. Shane had told her brother, Austin, his intentions with her, but he was still an overprotective big brother, probably because he knows how Shane still struggles with his inner demons and has not had it easy. Beth has her struggles of her own and he is the only one who really sees her. My heart was breaking for both Beth and Shane, for all she was going through and what he went through, and how it still haunts him. PPD is a topic seldom visited, and that and the author handled that and the PTSD tastefully while keeping it real. There is never a dull moment in this book, with non-stop drama, heartfelt emotions, some surprising twists of events and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. Maggie Gates, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧Emma Wilder and Sebastian York are superbly talented voice artists and their character voices and performance are perfection, fitting to the characters and their story. Wilder’s portrayal of Beth was spot on, grasping every aspect of her personality and her every emotion, and had you feel them all, including her inner turmoil. York did the same for Shane, also bringing out all of his emotions, while showcasing his caring side, too. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates this already wonderful story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Mental Health Rep w/ a HEA

I can't say enough about how amzing this book was. What Saves Us overlaps with What Heals Us and we get to see the other side of Shane's story and Beth's story.

It wasn't stated in the audio (ALC) if there are trigger warnings but I heavily advise you protect your mental health if you have ever suffered from Depression, Generalized Anxiety, PTSD or Postpartum Depression.

I spent so much of this book in my feels and it impacted my mood daily but I can't think of a book that addressed mental health in a more amazing way.

While Postpartum Depression is something I have never gone through, the rest I have. And it was so accurately described by Maggie throughout the entire book.

Shane suffered from his own demons and had his own struggles but through helping Beth and never letting her be alone he had a chance to heal something within himself.

Beth didn't want to need anyone and wanted to prove she could do the single mother thing all on her own but Shane taught her that it is ok to need help and to ask for it.

There were several times throughout this story that I had to pause the audio as I was crying to hard I couldn't even pay attention any more.

This is a beautiful story of growth, healing and found family who never give up on you.

Emma Wilder and Sebastian York are incredible!

What Saves Us

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️

What Saves Us is book three in the Falls Creek series. We first caught a glimpse of Beth and Shane in book two. Beth is Austin’s sister and the reason he moved back to Falls Creek. She gets pregnant by her older professor. She didn’t know he was married until she showed up to his house to tell him the news. Shane is a paramedic ex-Navy sniper. The first time he met Beth at the gas station he was attracted to her. Beth did not have an easy pregnancy. She went into labor during a major storm. Shane was the one that helped deliver her baby. This book has such a great representation of postpartum depression, and the struggles first mothers go through. It may be triggering to some. I absolutely loved seeing Shane showing Beth that even mom-bods are sexy too. He helped her feel sexy again and find her confidence in herself and her mothering. I am not ready to say goodbye to this small town full of amazing characters.

Emma Wilder and Sebastian York did a phenomenal job narrating this book. They truly brought these characters to life in the best way.
