Not what I expected -- it was better!
I had no idea what to expect going into this book, so it was a pleasant surprise once the story got going to discover some classic characters like Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper and James Moriarty. Plus a few vampires for good measure.
I would have enjoyed the story more if the author had gone with an R-rating and used a little profanity where it was warranted. For some reason unknown to me, Chuck Miller apologized in advance for refusing to use "bad language" in the upcoming story, and I found myself frowning as I listened. So the story read a little more like Nancy Drew in parts than I would have liked. Also, I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
But narrator Aisling Gray squeezed out every ounce of charm and humor there was to be had. She made me believe in the supernatural aspects of the story with her smooth pacing and occasional snark. Awesome narration.
If there are more stories to be had, I hope Chuck Miller will visit other historical figures to keep things interesting. As two notes for readers: First, in this world, Sherlock Holmes was a real person who also had books written about him. Second, this story was based on an idea for a comic book, according to the author's note at the end of the book.

"With that being said, I must admit I didn't think I was going to care for this story, but I was pleasantly surprised. This book had everything in it (Vampires - Sherlock Homes - Jack the Ripper - time travel through dreams - ghost - mystery - action), the author somehow made it all work in a fun, and imaginative way. I loved the story, and Aisling Gray did a superb job at bringing all of these wonderful characters to life.

Fun lighted hearted. Tongue in cheek.
No one really believes in Vampires, do they? Miller writes humorous play on vampires using a female detective agency made up of a victim of Jack the Ripper and a young girl who can't remember her past. Aisling Gray does an amazing job with all the voices and accents. Cute series.

Not a bad story but I'm not to sure if I liked the writing style of the author. I completely respect not using any bad language, but if you choose to take that course stuck to it. Do not substitute bad language with GD or MF. Either say it or leave it out of the story. At one point the author even says "censored" and "you know". I found it a little irritating. Other than that it was a decent paranormal Sherlock Holmes story. Great narration by Aisling Gray. I really love the Irish accent she does!

I have to say right off the bat, this book was a hoot! Besides a fantasy with fun vampires, crazy detectives, a Holmes and Moriarty like you have never known them, and even Jack the Ripper was in there. This is not your average book. It has serious points, crazy moments, what the heck moments, and downright outrageous moments. I giggle, smirked, sighed, held my breath, and was surprised throughout this book. Making this book doubly good was the narrator that added the actor's voices almost a movie in my head. The parts were played so well it added a whole new dimension to the book. I am so glad I listened to the book instead of read it in print. Mostly I read a book but I am glad I listened this time! Great job all the way around. Fun book!

World wind I'd say
At first it thought this book was quite funny , the introduction of Vionna, Mary and scudder moran. But as it was outlined that Sherlock Holmes and Moriaritt played a big part , in the Altered reality that caught both Vionna and Mary in , I noticed my brain just tuned. It felt like t wasn't about vionna and Mary's main story line , rather the authors affinity with Sherlock Holmes and that era.
So let s talk about Ailsing Gray - the narrator .
I'm want sure that this book was for her when it started , until Mary was introduced ! Wow to make me believe that this character was Irish was an understatement !
Aisling was such a joy to listen to. Her ability to switch from one character to another. - seamlessly and without detection of the "main character was quite refreshing. Though the "non cussing" made it a little more juvenile in Parts, it was still a great to listen to her talented narration style.
I didn't care for all the Sherlock homes stuff and the revelation of who Vionna ended up being , and i did wish to hear more interaction with the 2 women but for what it was it was ok
I look forward to hearing more narration from Aisling Gray.

Fun Book!
This was a fun book and a fun read. I enjoyed the accents the narrator did. Aisling Gray did a great job! I’m interested to see where the next story goes.

Yes, I laughed Out Loud
Based on the summary and the cover art, I knew to go into this with a sense of humor. I was not disappointed. Fun, whity, sarcastic humor made this book so a good listen. Do not go into this book looking for a serious vampire book. Go in with an open mind and looking for laughs. The book is just good fun and Aisling Gray narrates it splendidly. I felt like I was there, in the middle of the conversations. I could hear the sarcasm in her tone. I am sure her nuances made the story even more fun!! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review and I am so thankful for that opportunity! It is not often someone says... hey listen to this for free and laugh so much that the drivers in the cars aside you look over and wonder.
