About this listen

A friend in need...

Bounty hunter Jack Coltrane arrives in the most dangerous section of San Francisco, the Barbary Coast. An old friend needs Jack to find her son, who was last seen at the Redwing Saloon. The manager is a wanted man with a hefty bounty on his head, but no one is brave enough to try and collect it. Except Jack. But there's more going on than meets the eye, and if Jack can't sort out the good guys from the bad guys, he's going to end up going home in a pine box.

This 15,800 word novelette is loaded with traditional western action and can be heard in one sitting.

A great Western short

Tombstone Jack and the Redwing Saloon is a western of the classic style, good guy wins bad guy loses. A knock em down, shoot em up western.
Well written fast paced lots of action. A great listen
E. M. Carberry narration is excellent, you can feel the story through his voice.

Entertaining short western

This is a short but entertaining western set on the Barbary Coast and it is my favourite of the Tombstone Jack series. Jack and his side kick, Bert, head out in search of his friends missing son and manage to find lots of action in the process. There are plenty of gun fights, crooks and intrigue in this fast paced short story. The narrator fits the story well, giving the characters individual voices that are consistent throughout all the audiobooks. I really enjoy the repartee between Jack and Bert and you can not help but want to hear more.

Tombstone Jack strikes again!

If you enjoy the Western genre, either in your reading or in movies and TV shows, you will definitely enjoy this book!

"Tombstone" Jack Coltrane is a bounty hunter who knows how to get his man and doesn't pull any punches! I was often reminded of the Hays Cooper episodes of "Walker Texas Ranger". Tombstone seems to be pretty good with a gun, but is most impressive with his fighting skills, which have a martial arts feel.

Tombstone has travelled to the Barbary Coast of San Francisco with his new sidekick, Burt, to help his foster parents find their son, Nathan. Jack encounters another childhood acquaintance, Lawrence, who is less than scrupulous and seems to be hiding a lot. There is a bounty on Lawrence's head, so at least Jack can earn some money while looking for Nathan.

The action is quick, the characters are great and the narrator does a great job. This is definitely a classic Western, so if that is something you enjoy, you won't be disappointed!
