Good Western

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This was a good short story western that had all of the details needed to have a nice story. At under two hours, it felt like the westerns we see on TV where everything is settled within that hour. Those are good and so was this. I am sure there are more to round out the characters in this first one. The narrator made the story come to life.

Great Western

I really enjoyed this first short story in the Tombstone Jack series. It definitely reminded me of the old westerns I use to watch with my Gran. Jack Coltrane is a cool character; he is a fast drawing, unshakable bounty hunter with a strong sense of right and wrong. You get little hints of his past, that endear you to him and make you want to know about him. I also enjoyed Bert and his too big hat. The narrator suited the perfectly, he really brought the feel of the wild west to the story and the deep, calm voice he used for jack was perfect. It’s a great cowboy story with gun fights, bad guys and lots of action. I look forward to hearing more of Jack’s adventures.

A bit lacking.

I love a good western. Westerns are great for a change of pace and cleansing the palate of all the zombie apocalypse and prepper survival debris cluttering your mind. Tombstone Jack leaves something to be desired. It’s a bit thin on the content side. As far as Jack goes, all I know about him is that he’s a bounty hunter. Now this is a short-short story, but it is the debut err…novel and I’d like to know a bit more about the main character. The narrator E.M. Carberry did a fine job and had a great voice for the hero. Bounty Hunter

My husband is a huge Western fan, so we watch a lot of them. So, I feel pretty well qualified to comment on this book.

Jack "Tombstone" Coltrane is a bounty hunter without any ties in the world. This short novella is the story of one of Jack's encounters with the unsavory criminals that he encounters in his work.

The story was well-written, the characters were pretty well defined and the action was just right. The narrator did a great job with his rendition of Jack's tale. I especially liked the character of Bert, a self-proclaimed coward who goes along (reluctantly) with Jack to nab a pair of murderous brothers. The dialogue between Jack and Bert was insightful and added a lot to both of these characters.

If you love a good western, whether in written form, movies or TV series, you will enjoy this book. There is nothing groundbreaking about it, but it is an enjoyable read.

A great old time western

This was a fun book to listen to as I grew up watching Bonanza, Gunsmoke and a host of other TV westerns. This book had it all. A crack shot in Tombstone Jack that had a soft side and a town drunk Burt that finds redemption in the Wild west. If you like the old cowboy style novels this one has it all. The girl in distress, the hero and lots of bad hombres. A fun listen that I really enjoyed

I was given this book to review and the opinions are my honest thoughts after listening to the book

GREAT SHORT WESTERN, IT'S GOT IT ALL

Listened to this in one commute, really enjoyed it! Meet Tombstone Jack, a bounty hunter who encounters more than he bargained for after bringing in his latest catch in El Paso. Great story, loved the characters, the action, and the overall story and narration were great. Tombstone Jack is a great character, and I'd love to listen to more in the series. If you've ever watched westerns on TV (old school), this is right up your alley. Definitely recommended, enjoyed it :)
