Publisher's summary

Once she was Adrienne Satti. An orphan of Davillon, she had somehow escaped destitution and climbed to the ranks of the city's aristocracy in a rags-to-riches story straight from an ancient fairy tale. Until one horrid night, when a conspiracy of forces - human and other - stole it all away in a flurry of blood and murder. Today she is Widdershins, a thief making her way through Davillon's underbelly with a sharp blade, a sharper wit, and the mystical aid of Olgun, a foreign god with no other worshippers but Widdershins herself. It's not a great life, certainly nothing compared to the one she once had, but it's hers.

But now, in the midst of Davillon's political turmoil, an array of hands are once again rising up against her, prepared to tear down all that she's built. The City Guard wants her in prison. Members of her own Guild want her dead. And something horrid, something dark, something ancient is reaching out for her, a past that refuses to let her go.

Widdershins and Olgun are going to find answers, and justice, for what happened to her - but only if those who almost destroyed her in those years gone by don't finish the job first.

Performed by Nanette Savard, Alyssa Wilmoth, Eric Messner, Thomas Keegan, Yasmin Tuazon, Nick DePinto, Christopher Graybill, Bob Payne, Michael Glenn, Steve Wannall, Bradley Smith, Dawn Ursula, Christopher Walker, Danny Gavigan, Harlan Work, David Coyne, Scott McCormick, Colleen Delany, Steven Carpenter, Matthew Bassett, Lily Beacon, Elizabeth Jernigan, Drew Kopas, Terence Aselford, Thomas Penny, Nathanial Perry, Richard Rohan.

Exquisitely Brazen.

I have had more fun listening to this very short than any 30-40 hr long audiobook in years! Wider shins is a genius! Thanks to the author for giving us a decent female protagonist and props to all voice actors for bringing her to life!

Good story

I loved this story. It has an interesting plot. Story is well preformer. The plot, story and performance was good enough that I put off chores until completed! When I finished, immediately purchased rest of series. Confusing at times because of jumps in narration between past and present events. It informs listener/reader how Widdershins aquired her god and is in her present predicament. I think that will be less of a problem in future. A book to consider.

Fun Light Fantasy

This is a fun story.
Most fantasy stories in English are clearly leaning towards England &/or German influences, but Marmell's world feels French. This is only my 1st compliment.
The name "Widdershins" is a great choice for the main character, & I love her relationship with her companion.
I will continue with this series, & give some of Marmell's other books a try.
Thief's Covenant was well acted with a light use of sound effects. I rarely get to listen to books with a full cast, so this was a treat.
Give Thief's Covenant a chance.

sound effects overpower narration

story is good but sound effects make it impossible for me to listen to it.

Olgun Tongue Tied ?

I love the story, but I've heard it before, and the version i had included Olgun having dialogue with Shins instead of the weird moaning.

I bought this version, not knowing Olgun didn't speak and the missing banter between Shins and Olgun ruined it for me.

Whose brilliant idea was it to remove his voice, or is this an earlier version ?
His missing dialogue makes me leery of buying the next three books.
