Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of A Little Hatred comes a stunning fantasy novel that finds the world in an unstoppable revolution where heroes have nothing left to lose as darkness and destruction overtake everything.

Chaos. Fury. Destruction.

The Great Change is upon us....

Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: The Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry, and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds.

With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption. Orso will find that when the world is turned upside down, no one is lower than a monarch. And in the bloody North, Rikke and her fragile Protectorate are running out of allies...while Black Calder gathers his forces and plots his vengeance.

The banks have fallen, the sun of the Union has been torn down, and in the darkness behind the scenes, the threads of the Weaver's ruthless plan are slowly being drawn together....

"A master of his craft." (Forbes)

"No one writes with the seismic scope or primal intensity of Joe Abercrombie." (Pierce Brown)

Joe Abercrombie leads this genre

This series got me into fantasy/grim dark and I’ve never looked back. Get this book! Characters are witty, battles are gory, the twists keep coming. Just. Wow. This 3rd in the series is amazing in every detail measured.

This book is like a salad bar, it has all of the stuff but is hard to get excited about.

Body found floating by the docks....

Wow, it is just excellent. The first law trilogy was excellent, but just a precursor for the age of madness. This was the true work. Excellent ending to an brilliant story, performed expertly. and the foreshadowing.... Joe... more please.

An amazing end to an an amazing series.

This may be Joe Abercrombie's best work so far. A rollercoaster of emotion and expectation from start to finish. Definitely worth the read.

Buy it!

If you've never read any of his books, all I can say is you're in for a treat. I would suggest starting with the first book in the series for maximum enjoyment. Any of his works are so well crafted that they can stand alone.

Ruthless

I'm ready for more.
I need more. Abercrombie is so good at this.
And Steven Pacey is the best narrator there is.

Abercrombie is quickly becoming my favorite writer ever in any genre. A great ending to a great series.

one of the best I've ever heard

Steven Pacey is a beast, Joe Abercrombie is a genius; the two together make something incomparably good. If there's a ceiling for quality, then Joe Abercrombie is the fiddler on the roof.

Truly great fiction

Joe Abercrombie’s final installment on the trilogy somehow managed to meet the incredibly high bar he said previously. The story is dynamic and engaging. The character's Struggles cars real character growth and development. It makes it easy to make their struggles become your own. He has an ability to write people struggling internal monologue with such truth you can’t help but recognize it. The world is still dark, vicious, and full of beautiful twists and turns. If you read this book, you will be elated, happy horrified, heartbroken, and thoroughly pleased. I cannot highly recommend this series or anything written by Joe Abercrombie enough.
