About this listen

A small-town, accidental pregnancy, sports romance.

We promised our love was forever. A decade later, two little blue lines might settle the score.

You’ve heard of those kids who peak in high school?
Meet my love life.
Garrett Bradford was mine from the moment we saw each other in ninth grade.
Even then, he was a six-foot-four mountain of muscles with bright blue eyes, a wide grin, and a way with his hands.
He was the high school football star, and I was the dance team captain.
We were the storybook cliché… until we weren’t.

Now he’s the most famous offensive lineman in the league, and I’m a buttoned-up, ultra-professional lawyer.
My dancing days are over, and my carefully controlled life is a mess.
Infertility killed my marriage, or that’s what I told myself. Infertility and a cheating ex.
And my inability to get over Garrett Bradford.

One reckless night at his little sister’s wedding is only supposed to be a reunion, a trip down memory lane to a time when life was happier.
Six weeks later, I’m staring at a positive pregnancy test wondering, How did this happen?

I figure I’m on my own until Garrett overhauls his life, moves back to our small town, and shows up every day to massage my feet, hold my hair when I barf, and go with me to all my doctor’s appointments.
Our situation has an end date, just like it did so many years ago.
Unless this little score changes the game and gives us the second chance I thought we’d lost.

(THE WAY WE SCORE is a small-town, second-chance sports romance with reunited high school sweethearts, close proximity, surprise pregnancy, a protective Daddy Bear, parents to lovers, it’s always been you, and found family vibes. No cheating. No cliffhanger. No third-act breakup.)

You Will Love It

Every book in this series just keeps getting better!! Tia brings my favorite tropes all in one beautiful story. You get a second chance and accidental pregnancy, and I am here for it all.
This quickly became a favorite read of mine.

Garrett and Olivia have that young love that holds strong through the years. And I love that they get a second chance for that love. I adored both of these characters, and I knew they would have a beautiful story.
When Olivia comes home and sees Garrett, you know magic is going to happen.

Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zellar brought this story to life, and I couldn't have picked better voices for Garrett and Olivia. Plus, you get this story in duet style!!! Samantha has the best voice, and she can get those emotional moments, and I love it. Patrick is really good at what he does. I thought that he did a great job with Garrett's character.

I love this family, and I love seeing them all find their special people. This family is big and loves hard. I am here for it all!!

Sweetest surprise pregnancy storyline!

This is my first read of Tia's, and it will not be my last! Anyone who can make me fall in love with the surprise pregnancy trope will get my praise, it is not one that I typically go for.

I enjoyed the fact that we got little glimpses of Garrett and Liv's relationship in high school, and it honestly made me a bit nostalgic for the sweet simplicity of high school romance. It also set the foundation for how they would interact when they are faced with each other again, back in their hometown for a family wedding.

I appreciated an MMC who wasn't afraid to step up and be willing to make sacrifices for his baby and baby mama, and Garrett was so quick to drop everything to make sure that Liv was okay. Liv was so strong throughout the whole situation, and I admired that about her. It was so sweet to see them come together as a little family unit.

Onto the narration...Samantha and Patrick both did a phenomenal job as Liv and Garrett, respectively. Samantha has such a soothing, lyrical quality to her voice, and it lent itself well to the more emotional parts of the story. Patrick was a new narrator for me, and I really liked his performance. He possesses a guy-next-door vibe with his voice, and it kept me engaged in the story because it felt very believable.

Going to skip audible and read

Love the series -I’m sure the story is as good as others and will read-FMC narration great as usual (Brentmoor) perfect-but the MC narrator sounds like he is pain -very distracting) made it a few chapters and need to DNF the audible…

Perfect, just perfect

You know when you find a town you instantly fall in love with: you never want to leave, you want to stay there forever and ever. You want to know all about everybody, everybody they know, used to know, might know in the future. Well, Newhope, Alabama is that town, especially those Bradford boys and their sister; they’re “everybody” and they are magnetic. The more you learn about them the more you love them – and the more invested you become in their lives.

The Way We Score is the third book in The Bradford Boys series, and it picks up right where the last book left off; one brother and one sister happily snuggled into their HEAs, three brothers to go. This time Garrett is in the spotlight along with his high-school girlfriend Olivia. Life has been (mostly) good for both of them. Well, successful according to somebody’s standards anyway. But their break after high school still stings, and if we’re talking about HEAs, neither of them is there yet.

The story opens with Olivia finalizing her divorce from rich, powerful, prissy, petty Warner Oberon III. Even his name sounds like he has a stick up his butt. She couldn’t have children, of course it was her fault; end of marriage. Looking back it wasn’t ever exactly full of romance and that heart-stopping love she thought she felt at one point for Garrett. But enough of that. Olivia is sad about a lot of things but she’s not unhappy to be divorced from Warner. Right now, she’s headed back to Newhope to help her mother who had an accident and needs a walker for a while longer. She’ll figure out the rest of her life later. Garrett is back for his sister Dylan’s wedding to Logan. Liv plans to avoid Garrett, but Newhope is a small town. First she bumps into him immediately at his family’s bar. Then of all things he comes with Dylan to help her mother with her brood of chickens. Then, what else, since Liv and Dylan have always been friends she’s invited to the wedding. So this avoidance thing isn’t working out too well.

The attraction between them is back – or never left. Their breakup was not pleasant. He thought they would both go to the University of Alabama, where he would play football and she would be on the cheer squad. His dream, her dream, except her dream was actually to join the Mustang Cheer Squad after college, and the invitation to go LSU and be one of the Golden Girls is likely a fast track to that dream. Garrett knows that, but he doesn’t want her to leave him. Liv tries to convince him they can make it through a long-term relationship in college and then be together forever, but he’s young, selfish and unyielding. So they break up and move on. She becomes a successful lawyer and is married - until she’s not. Garrett becomes a star professional football player as planned and has an exciting social life. Well, maybe not that exciting anymore, or recently, or maybe ever, but he’s fine. He comes back to Newhope often enough, participates in the podcast Logan and Garrett’s brother Jack host; things are good. But why has he never found another special someone and why is he starting to agree with Jack and Logan that maybe there is life after football?

The Way We Score takes us along on Garrett and Liv’s journey back to each other in a way that is sweet and tender and funny and so enjoyable. And then there’s the spice. Oh, yeah, there’s the spice. Not to mention some big surprises – some glorious, some nearly devastating.

And if all that’s not enough – I was lucky enough to receive an advance AUDIO copy. Narrators Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zeller are as talented and wonderful as always. And a duet recording makes it dynamite. Brentmoor has a little bit of a Southern twang and it makes Liv seem so real: strong, scared, vulnerable, kick-butt all rolled into one. Zeller makes Garrett that gigantic, hunky, gruff football player who can almost bring you to tears, he wants his girl back so badly. Perfect tone, pacing, always just the right amount of emotion. I recommend you listen to/read The Way We Score, then the rest of the series, and then be on the lookout for what’s next. And read everything else author Tia Louise has written while you’re at it. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

First Love

Beyond 5 stars! The narrators did such a wonderful performance I had to listen to this in one go. So much emotional depth and you can feel it in every word. Garrett and Liv were high school sweethearts that broke apart in college. They meet up again years later and the chemistry is still there. This book is very steamy and has some angst and is so well written and fast paced. I loved every moment of their journey navigating their second chance. No time like the present to go after what you want. Love the Bradford family and all the characters from the previous books. I can't wait for the next book.
I was sent a free audiobook from HCB and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I'm OBSESSED with this Series!!

Tia Louise is a MUST read author. I have fallen in love with her writing. This is the fourth audiobook I have listened to by her and I swear they just keep getting better!

The Duet Narrators for this story were Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zeller. They were absolutely amazing! I felt like they were the perfect pair to tell this amazing story. Samantha and Patrick held my attention and kept me entertained throughout the entire book. I didn't want to stop listening to it.

Garrett was the high school football star and Olivia was the dance team captain. They were the storybook cliche' until they weren't.

Now Garrett is a famous Offensive Lineman in the league and Olivia is an ultra-professional lawyer. One reckless night at his sisters wedding is only supposed to be a reunion, a trip down memory lane to a time when life was happier. Six weeks later Olivia's staring at a positive pregnancy test.

Olivia thinks she's going to be on her own but little does she know that Garrett is going to overhaul his life, moves back to our small town, shows up everyday to massage my feet, holds my hair when I barf and goes to my doctors appointments. He's everything she's ever wanted and never thought she could have. Garrett will have you swooning like crazy! I absolutely fell in love with his character.

I had the best time listening to this book and getting to know these characters. The story and the characters were well written and enjoyable. I was laughing, swooning and smiling so much throughout this book. I can't wait to listen to the next book. I would HIGHLY recommend this book and The Bradford Boys Series!

Heartfelt, romantic and steamy

Oh how I love these Bradford Boys! “The Way We Score” is a heartfelt, romantic and steamy second chance accidental pregnancy romance that was a great addition to the series.

Garrett and Olivia were high school sweethearts but broke up when they went to different colleges. It’s been years since they’ve seen each other but both are home for his sister’s wedding. The feelings they had back then are still there and they have one incredible night together. But their careers still have them in different places. Olivia in Alabama and Garrett in New York. Fast forward six-ish weeks later and Olivia finds out that she’s pregnant. And that’s all Garrett needs to hear. He’s in one hundred percent and that includes walking away from the football field. As the two navigate their future, Garrett is there to convince her that this is their second chance to be together.

I have been loving the Bradford siblings and Garrett was amazing. He spent his whole life devoted to football but the moment Olivia came to him with her announcement, he was ready to walk away for her. They didn’t have that option when they were younger and had to go their separate ways. Garrett is kind, genuine and is the best protective papa bear when it comes to Olivia and their child. I loved Olivia from the start and how even though it was scary and meant losing Garrett, she followed her dreams and went to the college she wanted to. She’s close with her mama and that shines throughout the story. I loved how these two reconnected at the wedding and how they rebuilt their friendship. They started out again as friends and then became lovers again once Garrett moved back home. And even before that, he was there for her at the drop of a dime… he always made sure to put her first. Their romance was sweet and special, just like them. And with the easter egg of the next book has me counting down the days until its release.

Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zeller narrated this story in duet and I loved listening to them. Samantha’s narration was genuine, passionate and let Olivia’s emotions shine through. Patrick’s narration was vulnerable and protective and he was the perfect choice to bring Garrett to life. These two were great together and I loved that it was recorded in duet.

Perfect second chance romance

This right here is how you do second chance romance! I loved every single second of this book. The relationship between these two characters was so strong. They faced realistic struggles as they went through life, only to find each other again as fully mature adults. Both characters still have so much love for each other after so much time passing. I loved that they took things slowly because it felt real and rational. Garret is the ultimate golden retriever man and I adored his family shenanigans. I will absolutely be reading every single book in this series.

Second change and he works for it!

I'm loving this series. This is the 3rd book, but they do a good job of standing alone so you can start anywhere and not be lost.

Having lost his high school sweetheart once, Garrett is ready to jump back in with Liv. To try and reclaim the life he stupidly threw away now that he knows better.

Olivia, freshly divorced, heavily guarded/jaded and not wanting to make mistakes again, runs away from her amazing night with Garrett but there is a thread that will tangle them together for the rest of their lives.

These two are so perfect together. Even with Liv resisting and maintaining her walls. Garrett is there for her every step and does his absolute best to show her that he's all about being present, helping her through this surprise pregnancy and building a new life as a family.

The audio was performed in duet by Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zeller. I love Sam's voice, she has a great tone and brings the slightly unhinged moments of this family to life in a way that makes me grin with joy. The panic and angst as Liv resists Garrett, as she deals with her new reality and decides what she wants from her new life (including Garrett), it was all so well done. Patrick's performance as Garrett was so layered, the vulnerability as he tries to find the best way forward professionally and personally, the emotional battle he has to balance being patient and pressing forward, it was all so gripping. I didn't want to stop listening.

I requested and was provided with an advance copy of the audiobook, these are my honest opinions.
